I agree with the above comments about getting a kryptonite u lock…I just ordered one, and currently use a kryptonite cable lock and 4 nights ago someone tried to cut but failed. Getting the u lock tomorrow…the cables you were using must’ve been thin. You should definitely contact the campus police about this and file a report. The police at my uni have told me they’ve found hobo’s with student bikes.

Sucks dude. Get yourself a new bike when you can and as everyone else said, invest in kyrptonite u lock. Try seeing if the campus police can find the bike first though.

What a horrible way to start the year. Assuming you get a replacement bike, try to get a cheapo that is only sufficient to get the job done, the uglier the better. Maybe the campus police have suggestions as to where you can pick one up?

Big mistake! All it would take to ruin your life would be for someone to accidentally bumps into your bike while trying to unlock their own bike.

Did you register your bike with the campus police? They might be able to find it then.

my bike is currently in a storage closet in my apartment…and during the day when im going to class and about it’s always locked with a kryptonite u-lock. My campus is biker friendly so there are places to lock your bike throughout the campus.

Most people lock their bikes to the bike racks; a few take their bike with them to their rooms.

(note: it’s mostly people with roadbikes who take their bicycles with them to their rooms–beach cruisers and mountain bikes are too cumbersome for that mobility.)
