First Day Back

Actually I've already found an apartment in west la, but I can't move in until mid october. :(

Eh, those 2-3 weeks will go by fast.
You'll be ready to move into your new place in no time.

seeing the surroundings near UCLA, in terms of traffic and lack of parking space....I am glad that I don't have a car

Citan,

To be fair though, it is nice to be able to head out of Westwood for some grub or surf.

yes....although the traffic/parking situation in LA is terrible, there's nothing quite like the freedom of a car.

Yeah. I couldn't live w/out my car. But I also work outside of Westwood and go home semi regularly. But really it's just nice to be able to go anywhere I want instead of being stuck with whatever's in Westwood. There're so many options in LA that I'd hate to be tied to just a small area, and I tend to get bored with Westwood occasionally.

As much as I complain about traffic and parking and stuff, it generally tends to work out as far as using a car to run errands or go out or whatever. Much less of a hassle than the bus system.

Don't ever give a LaRouche cadre member your phone number.
They'll stalk you forever. I'm serious.
These people actually dropped out of college to further their pseudo-political agenda.

Its interesting to me that you say this. I talked to one of the LaRouche people for like 10 minutes and at the end, he asked me to write down my phone number and e-mail. I told him that I would rather not give my number and he bothered me a little bit about it until he finally gave in and I let him put my email address on the mailing list (which was probably a mistake on my part).

Anyway, I read some of LaRouche's writings and I can safely say that the guy is a total nutcase. Apparently, he thinks that the British philosopher Bertrand Russell was the most evil man of the 20th century, even worse than Hitler and Stalin. Also, he claims that France deliberately surrendered to Nazi Germany in 1940 as part of great right-wing scheme. He also claims to have single handedly prevented World War III (he claims that he blew an alleged U.S. secret plan to attack the USSR with nuclear missiles). Besides being crazy, I think LaRouche also suffers from narcissism. As for his followers, based on my experience and what I've heard on this forum, they are fanatics who should be clearly avoided and ignored.

I don't blame him...considering that Russell wrote "Why I am not a Christian"

I think that the car is a necessary thing to have at UCLA..well, as long as you have a place to store it...otherwise, it's a ***** to try to find parking on the streets all the time.

Actually, I don't think having a car is very necessary at all....if you dont mind walking and using the buses, which are a LOT cheaper than having a car, btw.

Depends. How much do you value your time? ;)

yeah i dont think freshmen need cars... everything we need is in westwood

GUYS GUESS WHAT.

I just did HOMEWORK.

EARLY.

It's crazy, I know.

And yeah. My time is significantly more important to me than money. Money I've got, time I need. 'Tis an easy choice.

But for freshmen, no. After that, yes.

allie how are you wealthy so young

lololol.

SO far from wealthy.

But really having my car isn't that expensive. Work is like 3 miles away. I can usually go over a week and a half without getting gas if I stay in LA, a week if I go home. I know where to park for free and I have a pretty reliable car so I don't ever have any major issues. Granted UCLA parking is expensive, but that's counted into school money so I don't deal with that.

I would very much like to be wealthy, though. And I intend to be.

Someday.

its a long and hard road for most of us...all the best.

Yes. I also intend to somehow shorten that road.

We shall see.

everyone wants to be rich but very few will be ^_^

yes but dude i WILL BE.

trust me.
