So kids. For those who are on campus today, what do you think so far? Like your classes? Hate your classes? Any cute people in your classes? Did you drown amongst the the Sea Of Crazy on Bruinwalk?

Share.

All I know right now is that the new "laptop lounge" in Powell is fantastic and my school days are going to be much more leisurely than I anticipated. So yay. Oh and that there are really far too few (straight) males in my department. But I already knew that.

Kids who start tomorrow/monday best come back and share when you slackers finally start.

i just had my engcomp3 class. i must say, steinberg is amazing. i'll be going to my cluster in a bit. i'm liking my classes so far

bruinwalk is madness. are there any particular individuals we should stay away from? my RA told me to stay away from one guy who dresses in a suit.

Stay away from all of them. Use alternate routes.

Seriously. It'll die down a little in a few weeks. I just have a seriously hard time getting pushed and yelled at and having paper thrown at me while delaying my walk to class. So not worth it. I suppose if you want to check out the clubs or whatever it might be ok, but try to go on off hours. Before ~8 or in the afternoon. 8-1 is the most miserable time of day to be over there right now.

I'm an engineer. There are no attractive girls in my classes. Not that the dudes are physical specimens either, besides myself j/k. I'm taking a couple math classes though, and there are a few more girls in there. One of them looks likes a broke Katie Holmes. I should still trade places with Allie though.

At least we destroyed SC at ultimate frisbee last night. W00t

My first class was pretty good. The class seems easy enough and the prof was nice. However, I was sitting next to this girl who's cell went off three times during class and she still wouldn't turn it off. Then class ended and she yapped really loudly on her phone right in my ear the whole way out.

Next class is at 2...I really don't want to go through Bruin walk again.

McGizzle, you would DEFINITELY be happy in Comm. However, yeah, on average the engineering guys...just...not so much. So no trading, sorry yo.

There is exactly 1 hot, straight guy in Comm and he's in one of my classes again this quarter. So that's nice I guess. He's widely known as "that one hot comm guy".

And fiddledd- Yeah, avoid Bruinwalk yo. Janss is your new best friend.

I feel like a total ass for ignoring people on Bruin Walk. The mp3 player and earphones are failing to deter people. I might need to get some real headphones that just isolate outside sound.

Lol. Unfortunately you lose the manners when they get in your way and hold stuff in your face day after day after day. I tried to be nice for a while too. Didn't work. So now I do the ipod+headphone route. But mostly I just stay off that stretch of Bruinwalk.

In other first day news, YAY to having lots of friends in my 2nd class. Party time in interpersonal comm.

My first day was pretty chill.
I was surprised to find that there is a shuttle waiting right next to lot 36 that will take me all the way to north campus. How convenient.
I walked onto campus early, at around 11am, just in case I forgot where my classes were.
Eh, for the most part I found my first class REALLY boring.
I don't know what it was.
Perhaps my professor doesn't seem as enthusiastic about teaching history as others are.
My second class, however, seems like a breeze, although I shouldn't make any hasty generalizations as this point.

I absolutely despise the people that try to get you to donate.
Don't get me wrong, I'm sure some are legit, but I don't trust any of those people these days.

bruinwalk was insane.. is it always like this? in teh summer it never is...
and i met the guy in the suit, he was creepy. like i was looking at roommate fliers just for fun and he says "come live with me"
classes dont seem hard at all given how much free time i have. my professor even ditched my 3rd class!

Yes, Bruinwalk is like that and sometimes even more congested then what you encountered today. I remember when I came during admit week in April, it was really bad maybe because there were admitted students along with their parents on top of the general undergrad population at UCLA

You might wait until the third week to give an a evaluation of your classes. Believe me the workload and intensity will pick up.

1st day of classes went okay. Human Sexuality seems interesting and we watched part of Kinsey today, which so far is a good movie. Also judging from the syallabus, we watch a movie practically every other lecture. I wasn't really checking out the attractiveness of people in class but there was one cute guy sitting in my row.

Poli Sci 20 was a total bore. I heard great reviews from friends who took it with Thompson but apparently he's not teaching the class anymore so I decided to just take it with Anderson. He talked for an hour and fifteen minutes about... nothing really. I'm disappointed since I was really looking forward to this class since it's the first poli sci class I've taken at UCLA that I have no experience in (I took Poli Sci 40 and 50 and I took AP U.S. and Comparative Government in HS).

I'm looking forward to Earth and Space Science 7 with Moldwin tomorrow though!

Is the creepy guy in the suit standing outside the second level of Ackerman on BruinWalk? I saw him approaching some girl so I walked quickly to avoid talking to him.

Bruinwalk isn't like that past 3rd week. It dies down significantly. Tours are a totally different kind of Hell though. But we have a few months until that gets crazy.

Oh and this is a new one- dude pretending to walk on the path in front of Royce and then comes up to you like he's lost and then instead of asking for directions asks if you're interested in learning about the bible with him.
