First Day Back

I think that even the best of us have ditched a class or two without a legitmate reason. It's probably better to ditch than to fall asleep (which has also happened to many of us), especially in a small class. However, you'd be surprised at just how visible people are, even in a large lecture hall. If you're asleep you will be seen snoozing by the lecturer.

i just went to the course reader store...NO LINES! go now! there was a two hour line yesterday afternoon. -_-

damn course reader stores and their no returns policy

Yeah I stood in line for the course readers for 45 minutes yesterday. and then i got to the front and they didn't have one of the books i needed.

But at least i got to skip the line this morning to pick it up.

hey allie how many units is considered full time?

It's technically 12, but you need to do 13/quarter on average to maintain the degree progress stuff.

so 13. thanks!

so taking 3 upper divs social science classes won't cut it? (4 units each)

Yeah. After you have more units you'll have more leeway and can do some quarters with 12.

Bfired- you're a transfer, no? it's not as significant for transfers (because you satisfied at least 90 units to get here and that's the minimum of where you'd need to be at right now). I came in with the 105 capped units and did two quarters of 13 units last year and 1 quarter of 12 and I'm just fine. You should look into doing more at some point (because sometimes stuff happens and you have to drop, so you should give yourself some leeway), but for right now you're definitely ok.

my schedule:

wake up
read CC
class ---- 3pm
read CC
study
read CC
sleep

well, ok not really. :)

I just always have my computer with me regardless of if I'm at work or in class and so i can check often.

It's usually pretty boring around here though.

alright...i'm taking 16 units this quarter, but i think i'm only taking 3 classes pretty often (geography requires only 12 upper divs and nothing else). i am considering minoring in poli sci though, but i was wondering how useful a minor is? can you do anything with it? does it give you an edge in grad school admissions?

HIST 140B: The United States: 1929 - 1960
HIST 129A: History of Spain and Portugal
HIST 116A: Byzantine Empire
GEOG 103: Paleoclimatology & Ice-Age Environment

NOTE
It's a mistake to take 3 History courses in one quarter, especially if you came from a CCC. That is, of course, unless you enjoy reading dry novels.

yeah history does have a lot of dry material.. poli sci and english is more interesting. still sticking to history...

i'm taking two history classes..and it's at least 50 pages + of reading EACH class...it's not really THAT bad..but seeing as how i'm taking two languages classes on top of that..it's pretty rough....

2 languages? what are they, if i may ask? brave, brave soul. i'm concerned with ONE language now. my polisci class has massive amounts of reading though...at least 150 pages a week. community college has spoiled us!

hebrew and arabic...i know...i know..

ah. my friend did hebrew and something else last year. did fine.

/though it mightve helped that he lived in israel until he was like 9 so the hebrew probably wasn't so tough for him.

well i went to yeshiva until i was 7 so it's a breeze...

arabic however is raping my mind
