First gen...

Can anybody find first gen-related data for some major colleges/universities? Although being a first generation college student is considered a hook, colleges rarely mention how many first gen students are admitted, enrolled, etc., while race, test scores, rank, and ECs often are listed.

Being a first gen, I am clearly interested in finding some cold, hard numbers. When I recently went to a local college fair, I talked to only one college representative (from UPenn) who had any idea what I was talking about -- and even she wasn't positive about the exact % for her school.

From http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/massachusetts-institute-technology/882019-statistics-mit-2014-admissions-cycle.html

“14% are first generation to college” while talking about the incoming class of 2014. That’s a LOT of first generation to college.

As and URM and 1st gen I’m saying to remember that statistics don’t tell you everything. I loved a post in that MIT thread that said "Statistics are like a girl in a bikini. They show you a lot but they don’t show you everything. "
