First Generation/ Low income Status

I was just wondering how a large school like BU views first generation/low income status. Not only am I first generation but my father and older brother both dropped out of school. My family is also low income and and receives practically every kind of financial assistance. Will this give me an edge in admissions or do admissions not care?

Admissions and financial aid are two separate departments.

The admissions committee will review your academics and stats to see if you qualify for admission. They will also note that you are first gen.

Financial aid will look at your income separate from admissions, and will base any financial aid awards according to your income and family obligations.

@beanard78 You should note that BU does not promise to meet your full demonstrated need. They make that clear on their website. If they really want you, you may get sufficient financial aid but many students do not attend because their FA awards are inadequate.
