None of my grandparents went to college. My father went to community college, but he never received a degree. My mother received a two year associates degree. Am I a first generation college student?
There is no standard definition off “first generation” that every college follows. The most common, but by no means universal definition is: neither parent received a bachelor’s degree from any university, whether U.S. or abroad.
That said, there is no box on the application that says “Check here if you are first generation.” You fill out the biographical data for your parents, including their education, and each college will decide what it will do with that information.
thanks for the info Mr./Mrs. Admin @skieurope
