First Job?

This is probably a stupid question, but how should on go about seeking that first job? I am only beginning my Sophmore year at a community college, but I want to ultimately major in Chemical Engineering and get a job in bio-manufacturing.

Do internships count as job experience? And where can one find entry-level engineering jobs so one can get that sliver of experience that most engineering companies wish for their new recruits to have nowadays. Is getting those three years of experience really is as hard as it seems? And would getting a Master's Degree in an engineering or related scientific field really knock off two of those require three years?

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions in advanced.

Before graduating, you need to intern. Ideally you want two semesters or more, but you need at least one semester or you’ll be at a major disadvantage on the job market.

You should be able to find your first position via your school’s career services department. If your school does a reasonable job, employers will come to you with job opportunities. The better the career services department, the more employers that will come to your school to hire.

In all seriousness, I know we make a big deal about rankings, etc. on this forum, but the quality of the career services department would be my #1 decision criteria if I was in high school right now.

Well, I must say that I didn’t know that. I wish to go NC State for my undergrad. degree. Would any of you happen to know how strong their career services happen to be?
