First post here: Chances of int. student (not good school record)

Hi everyone! first post here.

I am asking this on the behalf of my sister.

She is a non-US resident/citizen studying in Hong Kong. Where the HKCEE exams are taken during the fifth year of secondary school and HKALE are taken during the seventh year of secondary school. As some of you might heard, these exams are some of the most difficult pre-Uni examinations out there.

Now she is in her sixth year. Holding CDDDDEEE grades in HKCEE and EEEEEE in her mid-year examination. She is also taking some outside examinations, the UK GCE A-level (1 subject - maths) and GCSE (6 subjects) [will be taking more next year] and I expect her to get As and Bs for these.

For extra curricular activities, she have played in the basketball team and have elected as a treasury officer of a school club. She has also had work experience in an insurance company.

What are her chances of applying to the USA? i.e. which schools will probably give her offer. And what else can she do differently to improve her chances (SAT, TOEFL enough? the mid-year report cant be changed)

She is also thinking about reapplying as a transfer student later after she is able to get into a UK university. Do you think thats a doable option?
