First quarter grades?

Because of Sandy, my first quarter grades won't be ready until early december, and probably wouldn't get to the admissions office until right before decisions come out. Is it worth sending them? Is not sending them guaranteeing me a deferral/rejection?

Many schools don’t do quarter grades in the first place, so it’s not necessary for you to send them. Columbia would LIKE to see them only if they are available. It won’t impact their admissions decisions in any drastic way.

I personally asked my counselor to send mine in, and he responded that in his 20 years of high school counseling, he has never sent quarter grades to any college, even for EA/ED, and will not do it for me.

They don’t expect your first semester grades unless they are available when you submit your application. They never expect quarter grades unless you are on a system where you get final grades every quarter. You will submit first semester grades with a different form later, probably.

ok, thanks guys. feedback411: yeah my counselor won’t send grades either regardless of whether they are available or not. even though we work on a quarter system, the student him/herself has to send first quarter grades if they are requested by the college.
so confusing. thanks for the answers!
