Does anyone know the norm and max recommended? I heard that time is needed to adjust so taking a lot could kill someone. I have exempted some courses with AP but I want to use the money I am spending to the best of my advantage and still keep the HOPE. Anyone?

The minimum is 12 hours. And I assume the maximum is 15 hours.

The maximum is actually 17.

First semester I took 16, though I would recommend taking just a little bit less for your first semester. I did fine, but it just takes a while to adjust. I did have a job, though, so that might have made it a little harder than it would normally be.

To qualify for admission to the Honors program after a semester, you must take 15 credit hours with a 3.75 GPA. Does that sound difficult? Again, I have no clue how credit hours work and how difficult they are. Plus, the new plus/minus grading system UGA is experimenting with will definitely make it harder to attain that 3.75 GPA.

Is it going to be impossible to get a 3.75 for 15 hours while working 18 hours a week? I am doing the maximum federal work study but I really want to get into honors after first semester. Should I take the easiest classes possible first semester or will Honors look at that as cheating?

I took 12 hours my first semester and never regretted it. Take the minimum your first semester, especially if you like to have a good time. You will get up to Athens and want to (and will) go out all the time. It's freshman year...live it up. As they say, you can always retake a class, but you can never relive a party. Enjoy freshman year and don't overload yourself.

Inspiring.

I was just wondering. I am going to enter UGA next year as a freshman with 12 credit hours and I was wondering how many credits will i have to take once i get there. Will they still make me do a minimimum of 12 or what?

Yes a minimum of 12 credits is required in order to be considered a full time student.
