First semester freshman schedule(LS CS intended)

So here are the classes I have selected for Phase I:
CS61A
Math1A
Geography 24 seminar

For phase II, I'm defintely taking an R1A class

Now, I'm mulling over whether or not to take another class, and which class to take if so.

Take Math1B with Vojta. I'm fairly confident that I got a 5 on the AP Calc Ab exam, as I easily got a solid 5 (85/108) on the inclass practice one. When the drop date comes I'll decide whether if I should drop 1A if 1B is manageable, or 1B if that class is too hard. However, I've heard bad things about Vojta, from his reading out of the book lecture style to extremely hard exams. Should I bother with him? I can't take 1B with serganova, who I heard is better, because her class time conflicts with CS61A. Math is my best subject in high school and I breezed through AP Calc AB but I know Berkeley math is much harder which is why I phase I Math1A just to be safe.

Take a history class, like History 2 or 4A. I have always enjoyed history very much, and even read history books as a side hobby. Doing this will satisfy my history breadth requirement.

Or is taking 17 units too much and I should just stick with 13? Though with option 1, I'll only be dealing with 17 for the first few weeks at most.

With a 5 on AB, you should be fine skipping 1A and going into 1B (or H1B). If you are not sure, try the 1A final exams found here: [Math 1A | Department of Mathematics at University of California Berkeley](Math 1A | Department of Mathematics at University of California Berkeley)

But remember that math in college will cover material at a faster pace than an AB course in high school.

Any specific comments on how Vojta’s class is like?

More Math 1A final exams: https://tbp.berkeley.edu/students/exams/math/1A/

Check his exams as mentioned above, though if you got a 5 on AB you can skip 1A. 17 units is too much for your first semester, you’ll be really busy just trying to get acclimated to the school. Also, I think math 1A/1B are some of those classes that have a 2 week drop deadline, so make sure to check on that (if that’s the case, 2 weeks is not enough to judge the difficulty of the class).
