Hello,
I am going to be an undergrad freshman attending UCSD as a Human Biology Major. I plan to go to a Medical school, but I am not sure what are the first steps that I should take. I understand that Med school is very competitive, so I am hoping to gather some knowledge that could potentially help me reach my goal.
I want to ask the pre-med students or any other people who has Medical experience,
What can I do right now that can help me stand out from the other pre-med students, and can greatly improve my chances of getting into a medical school?
Any insight, advice, and personal stories related to this topic are more than greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!
“What can I do right now that can help me stand out from the other pre-med students”
-No need to stand out. Your first goal is to adjust to academic level at college and strive for an A in every class. Ones you figure out this, look around what EC opportunities are available… But take is slow in first year, focus on adjusting. people who failed to adjust, simply fell out. Forget about “stand out”, greatly overblown concept.
Agree with MiamiDAP - starting out as a freshman, focus on grades. Many students who intend to be pre-med aren’t any longer after a few semesters of poor grades in Med school prereqs. That has to be taken care of first.
I understand. Thank you for your advice!
I will plan focus more on grades.
