<p>New to forum and internet discussion in general,so good morning and my question would appear simple..........can a junior in high school committ to an Ivy League school and what does that mean ? Very new at this.</p>
<p>Welcome Charter, and good morning to you, too. The general wisdom is that in the Ivy League, until the athlete has a Likely Letter in hand, there is no meaningful commitment in place. LL’s start going out in the fall of senior year. You might find this old thread enlightening:

<p>Yes, and no. As Varska said, nothing is official until the student has a likely letter (and even then s/he has not committed to the ivy). On the other hand, there are ivies where students and coaches express relatively early on their mutual interest.</p>
