<p>see the trick to filing on jan 1 is that if you are working and just got paid, keep your pay stub(s) and other financial info to use as a estimate on the FAFSA.</p>
<p>and then when your actual w2 forms and other pertinent info come in, go to the FAFSA website and make corrections…</p>
<p>this info is for anybody, including those who have an early deadline to beat (some schools have a jan 15 or feb 15 deadline for financial aid purposes i’m told).</p>
<p>of course keep a copy of your w2 and tax forms when it is time to bring them to your school’s financial aid office.</p>
