I am having my interview this weekend and my interviewer phoned me and told me that she has never interviewed anyone before....I am supposed to meet her in her office 2 hrs away... anyone know if having a 1st time interviewer is good/bad? so nervous!

my georgetown interviewer had never done an interview before, i was the first one.

that's generally good, and he must have written me a decent report cuz i got in

i don't know about interviewers that have never interviewed before, but i've had an interviewer that didn't know what she was supposed to do, per se. im assuming that's close enough, and roughly what you're afraid of

what this means, or, at least, meant for me, was that i had to direct the flow of the interview. she happened to share major interests with me, so we talked about that a lot. i asked a lot more questions than i usually do at interviews.

what it comes down to is that they're just as nervous as you are. so, if u make this a nice first inteview, easy, relaxing, and plesant, they will write u a much better recommendation than a seasoned interviewer will.

I am very nervous because she majors in political sciences while i signed up for engineering sciences. I have heard horror stories of interviewers asking the weirdest questions, such as "how many breaths will it take to vacuum out the room" etc, etc. Anybody know if first time interviewers do that?

Also, feel free to share experiences/stories with first time interviewers!

No. It's not a big deal if she majors in polisci. One interviewer I had was a polisci major, and I was marked as an engineer. They might ask you more questions about politics and world news. They'll see that as the 'benchmark' - how informed you are.

Don't sweat it. They won't get too esoteric or weird. If they do, play it cool. They're probably more nervous than you are.

bump. who's had interviews?
