Hey there. I willl be visiting UM for the first time from Thursday-Friday. Other the campus tour I have scheduled, what else do you guys recommend doing/checking out?
Off campus, explore South State Street, East Liberty Street, South Main Street and South University Avenue.
The campus tour, for me, didn’t include the Big House, West and South Quads. The tour did include East Quad, Law Quad, MoJo and Stockwell dorms. They’re all really nice. Also, North Campus wasn’t on the tour for me, but if you’re a music, engineering, design or architecture student, then you should check it out.
@sushiritto Thank you! Though I am a biology major, I was planning on visiting North campus because it seems like a lot of freshman dorm there from what I have read. Also, I’ll be sure to check out some of those off campus locations as well. Thanks again!
A lot of freshman are also housed in Markley, so if you have a chance, check out that dorm as well.
If you’re a biology major, check out the brand new biological sciences building, if not on the tour. We passed by it, but it was still under construction a year ago.
East Hall (not Quad) and Weiser are where many of the math classes are held. If you’re a bio major, then tour Angel Hall, USB (Undergraduate Science Bldg.) and MLB (Modern Languages Bldg.). That’s your hub.
Lots of great places to eat in Ann Arbor—Campus is very walkable and right to shops and restaurants.
Ann Arbor is a great college town. I think there is supposed to be an ice storm tomorrow so make sure you have shoes to handle walking around in snow, ice, slush.
My son is a Freshman and he’s so happy he chose Michigan. We love visiting him there.
