I know that involved Mount Holyoke students don't have a lot of time to surf CC. Between academics and the many new activities available, not to mention the new friendships, busy is an understatement.

Just wondering, though, how everyone is "settling in" and what their impressions are of the many facets of Mount Holyoke life.

My D, who is now a firstie, reports that she is extremely busy. Classes are good, profs are good, homework is not too bad, food is good, other firsties are good, temperature is getting cool, Jeorge the swan attacked her, and she almost walked over a chipmonk and a bunny (are the animals afraid of nothing there?). No news of any other firsties being unhappy. Unfortunately, Friday PM classes were not cancelled in view of the new president’s inauguration ceremony. Many firsties are already considering classes for second term, though they have not yet passed first term.

Well… here’s the transfer scoop…

It’s AMAZING!!! I had a tragedy in family before coming to campus and the ENTIRE community pulled together to help me get here, get settled, and feel welcomed. It’s been a busy few weeks though mostly to buearocratic dealings (declaring a major, selecting advisors, and trying to get into a lab.) THe dust has now settled ever so lightly and well forming a delicate mattress for the falling leaves blanketing the campus!

Great activities… I love riding, and this week I look forward to fencing!

Classes are great as are professors… very inviting and calming. I am taking scary classes with 200 levels (and ready to start 300 seminars for grad.) But everyone is great… The workload is less than I expected…

The food is a toss up. There is alqays something Yummy but it’s not always in the kitchen you pick. Gracious Dinner is wed… with locally grown produce so it’s very exciting…

All in all great experience…
