First Year Experience

My child is finishing up Freshman year at Juniata, and has had a fabulous experience.
Beginning with the orientation (very nice parent program), including the Inbound program, and all thoughout the year. Involved in numerous groups and activities and has loved every minute of college life. Has had no problem at all with crime (unlike older sibling at another PA college who has had a camera and GPS unit stolen)
Just wanted to provide some encouragement to those planning to attend this fall!

Sounds great. Any advice? What courses did your daughter take?

Mostly Science/Math courses. The Liberal Arts distribution sounds confusing at first, but
it is not bad once you get used to the jargon. Don’t miss the Parents boat ride on the lake at orientation!

I’m very much looking forward to orientation, as is my son. I like how they get advising for their registration. I also think the Inbound program sounds great, terrific preparation and lots of fun.

How did the course…Organic Chemistry Concepts go?

Did no take the organic chemistry. Going the Physics/ Engineering Physics route.
Will only have to take Inorganic chemsitry for that major.

MissMartha-thanks for the report. Our d is thrilled to be joining the class of 2015! Everyone we know who has gone to Juniata has loved it!

Hi Miss Martha, I am an international student joining the Class of 2015 in Juniata for next Fall. I really can’t wait to go there and very curious about classes and college student’s life.

Here some questions I would love to ask you, or maybe your daughter. I really wanted to follow the pre-engineering route, but I was wondering if we can still major in other related areas like Chemistry or Environmental Science while we do engineering? Because I heard engineering courses are very intense.

One more question: How does you daughter feel about science professor?

Thanks :)

I know that the pure Physics POE (major) is flexible, and can be combined with other areas of interest, more so than the Engineering Physics POE. You just have to work with your 2 advisors, and they will allow you to create your own path.
So far the Physics professors have been outstanding for my child.

Thank you very much. Hmmh my POE is probably Chemistry, but I still want to follow general engineering (which might be Engineering Physics). I am really excited for both Physics and Organic Chemistry in the first year. Gotta work with my advisers!
