Hey guys I'd like to ask about the BUAD 310-Applied Business Statistics. Has anyone taken it and do you think it's hard? I am an incoming freshman and I finished AP Calc with a 5 so my advisor waived my math course and placed me in this Applied Business Statistics. But I am highly skeptical that AP math is sufficient for this course. Here is the course description:

"Statistical methods for business analysis; data exploration and description; sampling distributions; estimation; hypothesis testing, simple and multiple regression; model building. Extensive computer applications."

I took it my first semester; it was alright–doable. If you never had statistics, it could be a struggle, especially since many other students have had AP statistics.

No calculus needed for statistics. Just remember that placement tests are usually just a recommendation-- you can take the class you placed out of if you want if you are not confident of your abilities. Mostly likely you’ll do fine without retaking the class.

First off, don’t freak out. If you were able to pull a 5 in AP calc, you should be able to knock 310 out of the park.

310 is actually a very interesting class that should keep you engaged. I don’t remember it being that heavily math intensive, just theory and reasoning with light calculations. All of the heavy regression stuff is done via software. You just need to understand the theory in order to get the correct output.

Just show up, take good notes, do homework, and study and you’ll do fine.

I did all of the above and walked out with an A.
