First year spanish..

I'm curious...what did you cover in your Spanish 1 class?

I didn't take Spanish but I felt like posting anyway. Although I did think about taking it.

alphabet, numbers, basic vocabulary, conjugating verbs in the present tense, pronunciation, etc.

our teacher skipped alphabet because she didnt feel it was that important, but we learned numbers, days of the week, months of the year, greetings, what you say in a(n) airport/restaurant/train station/grocery store/clothing store. as for verb tense, we just focused on present and preterite.

The alphabet, colors, days, months, greetings and basic conversation (Hello, my name is etc.), places and objects, food names, and started to learn verb conjugation - yo, tu, el/ella/usted, nosotros, ellos/ellas/ustedes. We didn't learn any of the nosotros conjugations that they use in Spain, though. Not entirely sure why.

basically, spanish I is boring

Greetings/Farewells, Days of the Week/Months/Seasons, Subject Pronouns, Indefinite and Definite Articles, Verb Conjugations (-ar,-er, and -ir verbs), numbers, question words, adjectives, verbs: ser, estar, and ir.

yeah. my first-year spanish teacher decided to completely ignore the vosotros (spain nosotros) form, and when we entered second year spanish, our teachers freaked out and became irritated whenever we admitted our unfamiliarity with the verb form.
