Hi, I was filling out the common application, and it gave me the option to be considered for Spring 2018 enrollment…
“Applicants to the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Business, and College of Human Ecology may be considered for January 2018 admission. Learn more about the First-Year Spring Admission program online at: admissions.cornell.edu/fysa. In addition to being considered for Fall 2017, I am interested in First Year Spring Admission in January 2018.*”
My issue arises when I go to the website (admissions.cornell.edu/fysa). On Cornell’s website, the 2018-enrollment only shows offerings in CAS and CALS (not the college of business). Does this mean that I would still be considered for spring enrollment into the business school or spring enrollment into either CAS or CALS?
So the College of Business is a brand new thing and there’s still some confusion (at least on my end) about it, but my impression is that it’s more of a new designation for already-existing programs than anything else. Are you applying to AEM? If so, that’s within CALS (along with the new business school, I guess), so my guess is that it’s considered in the CALS section of FYSA.
No problem! I’m not a million percent sure, but if you check the box and you did get admitted for spring 2018, they wouldn’t put you in a different college than you applied for or anything. So I would just let them deal with the logistics of it!
S3 applied Ed last year to class of 2019 in HuEc (Pam). His Ed application was deferred to April decisions and was offered FYSA admit for Spring 2015. Let me know if you have any FYSA related questions or concerns.
@financemajor37 – I think you identified a wording issue that the university should fix on their website, but I agree with @Ranza123’s explanation.
I am wondering if the explanation for the discrepancy is due to the fact that the Business College also now includes the Hotel School, and perhaps SHA does not admit first year students in January? Just guessing at this last part.
