FIT for business side of fashion?

My daughter wants to go into the business side of fashion...a few questions:

What is the reputation of FIT for the business side of the fashion?

How difficult is admission for a business emphasis when no portfolio is required? What do they look for for admission?

What exactly is the honors college aspect of the school?

Does FIT offer any scholarships?

Thanks

Bump Bump…Anyone?

Hi sockhermom!
I may not know much but I have done enough research to answer some of your questions.
As for admission into the FIT business school they do not use sat scores OR letters of reccomendation as admission factors. The essay is VERY important from what I understand along with cumulative GPA.
As far as reputation goes… There is no other college as well known as fit when it comes to fashion in all it’s forms! Hopefully that answers your question!

FIT is basically the best fashion school in NY for business. I’m talking about the merchandising & management (FMM) course. It’s much better than Parsons, which is largely art oriented and I don’t even think has a marketing degree, only an AAS. So yes, go ahead and urge her to apply!

I just finished aplying to FIT. They have one of the best reputations for fashion merchandising in the country. The school is state funded so its reasonable inepensive as far as colleges go. Therefore scholarships are not super common. The school does offer an honors program called the presdential scholars program. This program offers accelarated classes, monthly meetings/dinners, guaranteed housing and a 500$ stipend per semester. Inorder to be accepted into the program student’s must submit test scores, 2 letters of rec, an essay and their transcripts. They also must complete community service while they’re enrolled in the program. I hope this helps.
