<p>alright. the FIT pre-college program seems to be the cheapest one i found. which is $700 some range like that and I THINK you need to pay $300 for each course...BUT I found out that their housing is NOT offered to pre-college students. WHAT A KILLLLL. plus on top of all that you dont receive college credit either..
anyways, i dont live in NY nor do i have family there. so isnt it more expensive if one gets housing outside of the college it offers?? like independent housing anywhere yo want...and plus the program is 3 weeks...is apartment rental cheaper than hotel???
idk how im guna do this..the fact that they dont offer housing puts me under stress..i might as well not go with FIT cuz i bet the combo of all the price prolly equals to like $4,000...which will end up beiing the same with any other program. and its not lie im guna get housing there alone..i'll be 17 but i stilll want my mommy to come with me lol . or any other family member..and i also wonder if its guna be a hassle tooo cuz of depending how far it is but if ii get in school housing it would be WAY easier and i wont need or want my mom to come along too....sooo wht do you think? should i still consider FIT? do you think it wont be that bad if i get my own housing? I have research soooo many pre college programs that my brain exploded. a lot were great and im still considering it but i feel like the FIT one is the coolest because of its location!!! i heart NYC.
ANY ADVICE? RECOMMENDATIONS? EXPERIENCE IF YOU EVER WENT TO THIS PROGRAM??</p>
<p>OMG!!! I am exactly on the same boat as you , I have even posted a thread about it but nobody was nice enough to answer it hahaha.I am taking 2 courses at FIT this summer (fashion design and introduction to fashion industry)+ couture workshop and the housing issue was a bullet in my head. You should definitely stick with FIT, idk what courses you’re planning to take but FIT and Parsons are for sure the best of the best!! Hotels are ALOT more expensive than anything , 3 weeks in a hotel you would expect to pay 7k+, apartments are a good choice , I am planning to rent one , and I know this might be a bit creepy but we can share the apartment , students in NYC are always looking for roomates , it gets cheaper for me and you! But you should definitely go to NYC , it’s also my favorite city in the world and most of FIT classes are still available!!</p>
<p>yeee well im glad that your glad you found my post. yeah i thought since fit doesnt give housing for pre colleges I kind of threw it out of my options otherwise it might have been a hassle UNTIL i recently found this page on the fit website like 2 days ago that made me reconsider my options: [Fashion</a> Institute of Technology - Summer Live Housing](<a href=“http://fitnyc.edu/10087.asp]Fashion”>http://fitnyc.edu/10087.asp)
it was a life saver because i found out these special “hotels” for students temporarily studying nyc at a low cost!, one with all girls and another with a age limit thingy i think right now im torn between this program and a Study Abroad program in France since im studying french in high school. im really interested in both because i looove NYC. i’ve been there once and fell in lovee and i have never been to France but im dying to go. but in the end it depends which ones my parents think is the safest or best one for me…overall my mom isnt that happy with the study abroad thing I wanna do…i have told her about fit…she was a little wishy washy because it was actually not expensive compared to other programs and it wasn’t in another faraway country so yeahh…
i havent shown my mom that fit page I found YET. so yeah it would be great if we shared a room or something that way I’ll wont have to worry about being alone hahaha…you should choose something from that page !
so yeah keep me updated or something!!</p>
<p>We stayed in Hotels, The Hilton Garden Inn on 28th. Has an FIT rate…about $179…5 minute walk to FIT (no taxi needed) great hotel, very clean, microwave & fridge (save $$) in each room, check them out on Trip Advisor.
I did pretty good on Priceline “name your own price”
A couple of years ago we stayed at The New York Helmsley for $100 a night (name your own price) but then you have a long walk or taxi…Also stayed at the Roosevelt for $110 (name your own price) . You can’t beat walking down 5th ave in the morning…</p>
<p>How did you get Roosevelt for $110!?</p>
<p>“Name your own Price” on priceline…
Summertime rates are pretty good…</p>
<p>lindsaylaay how was your fit experience? do you think it was worth the price?</p>
<p>It was a great experience, and a lot of fun.
If you can afford it, do it!</p>
