Hi there, I am currently looking into attending FITs summer live 11-day program next summer. I was wondering if anyone can help me with some info. What courses would be best for me if I want to someday become a fashion journalist, also I live very far away from NYC (in Indiana), do they provide housing or would I need to get a hotel? What are the requirements to get accepted into the program? Is there anything else I should know? I appreciate the help!
You would probably be best with an Advertising and Marketing Communications or Fashion Business Management course. They have one called Fashion Journalism Workshop (http://www.fitnyc.edu/precollege/course-selection/)
Whats great about the summer programs is that they will help you prepare an essay and think of topics to write about (since the essay is such an important part of the FIT application process. They love good essays)
Also there is no housing for pre-college program,as stated here (http://www.fitnyc.edu/precollege/program-details/summer-housing.php) you will need to get a hotel.
But it’s a great opportunity and is a great way to spend your summer, exploring NYC and taking some valuable classes. It will even give you a feel for what it would actually be like to attend.
Hope everything works out for you!
Hi. I took many precollege classes and now I’m an FBM student at FIT. I would definitely choose an AMC class. If you were to ever go to FIT for college majoring in AMC would be the way to go for that career path. They do not provide housing unfortunately so you would have to stay in a hotel or make other arrangements. There aren’t any requirements to attend. You just sign up.
