How did you guys find colleges that “fit” you? How do you know? Are you happy at the colleges that you’re at?
One word: collegetours. If you’re not able to go to those, I suggest reading as much as you can about the college from as many difference sources as possible to get as full a picture as you can about the college, and then, if you apply and get accepted, going to an admitted student day if you can.
They gave me a sense of what the student life was like at each college and what each college focused on and to what extent. There’s always a gloss given to the college by the tour, but that isn’t too hard to see through if you try. For me, I knew I wanted to go to Northwestern after the admitted student day because it seemed to me like each student was encouraged to explore their academic and extracurricular interests to the fullest extent, and there were a bunch of university programs and intitiatives to support that. (Also, NU’s Weinberg CAS was one of the two liberal arts schools I got into, after I decided after I sent in my applications that I wanted to get a liberal arts instead of business school education). After enrolling, I found the support of students interests was pleasantly real. I am now happily a Northwestern student.
look up the colleges. If their philosophy parallels yours then do a little more research. That’s how I did it atleast
