I am a senior making my decision; I have narrowed my choices down to 3 final contenders. Of those 3, my favored 2 are almost exactly the same in terms of general fit factors. I have also visited them both; I liked one more emotionally, but a 2 day visit doesn’t seem too accurate at judging that. (Also, that was mainly because of a group interview gone awry at the other place, so I know it’s not impartial.)
Anyway, I don’t want to make the wrong decision, so I am revisiting both of them-- not during an admitted student day or anything. (I’m also going to the third, just to see if I feel it is worth the cost.) My question is what should I do on campus to best tell me how I fit at the colleges? I have done lots of reading, had in-depth hours of conversations with current and future students, spoken with professors about opportunities, and sat in on classes. Yet I am at a complete tie, because I really love both of my choices. I want to make sure that the 2-day visits I take will help me make a choice. And eventually, feel solid about my ultimate decision. As a chronically indecisive person, college frustrates me because I will never be able to tell what my experience will be like until literally after I spend 4 years there. And even then, if I redid college, I’m sure I would have a completely different experience just because of the randomness of what happens.
Does anyone have any advice on what to do during a campus visit? This for someone who is already familiar with the school, but who wants the details. I want to paint the picture of how my potential life at the school will look.
Also, any general advice about how to make the final choice would be much appreciated. Thank you!
