Fitness Facilities at Brown

I am really interested in Brown, but one thing worried me: there dosen’t seem to be much on the internet about fitness facilities.

Is there a gym at Brown with things like treadmills, ellipticals, weightlifting, rowing machines, etc? Is it really far away from the dorms or easily accessible? Does it cost money? Are there any fitness facilities in the dorms or the residential area?

Thanks!

Yes! and, its free.

Though I have a question : Do they have trainers at the gym?

I haven’t heard anything about trainers except for those that work with the sports teams. They do have fitness classes (about $100 a semester for all-access to them) that cover just about everything from ballet to kickboxing to weight lifting, so that’s one option.

There are personal training services available for a fee, though I don’t personally know of any student that uses them:

Also, to answer the OP’s question, we have a main gym at the OMAC which is some distance away from the main campus. But we do also have three satellite gyms apart from that. One in Emery, one in Keeney and one in Grad Center.

Brown’s gyms aren’t amazing, but they work.
The OMAC, at least could be better.

I don’t think they should deter a person from going to Brown though, because, as I said, they get the job done.
