Fitness, Nutrition and Health- All Welcome (Hardcore and “Light”)

I’m usually crowing about how good I sleep! Welp. Not last night. Up for HOURS.

Nevertheless, I managed to train today. Week 2 of the cycle. Squats 160 x 5 x 3 and Deadlifts 190 x 5 x 3

Videos looked good. Heart rate really went up with the exertion! Took a long-ish break between the squats and deadlifts goofing around with the dog & on my stupid phone, which probably made those DLs easier!

45 minute indoor cycling and then 30 minutes brisk walking. Worked in a little race walking technique- at least I think I did it sort of right. As for sleep- some nights I do OK and other nights I’m awake for hours. These are stressful times.

4.75 miles at the trails. Only a bit more before it will close on November 15. Deer hunting season until December 1 and then there will be snow on the ground ?

My office is doing a step challenge for the month of November. They are counting lunch break steps as double… It will be interesting to see how it goes.

That’s a cool idea to double lunch break steps, encourage people to get up and move around.

How about they just double the lunch hour so people can get LOTS more steps honestly!!! @jmnva06 is your office working in person or WFH???

I see that as an open invitation to walk during lunch and eat lunch during work!

Pretty steamy out this morning, but got 45 minutes in with some 5 and 10 minute running stints.

Rest day today. Went to the range with my brother, then cleaned up dog vomit when I got home. Poor little old man has not been himself!

We are almost entirely work from home. We’ve been home since mid-March and there is no plan to go back anytime soon

With my working from home there is no such thing as a “lunch hour.” We try to eat when we aren’t on a meeting that requires us to be on camera!

My reality for many years has been eating my lunch while working so I think this is only fair.

I also think that given that it will be dark in the evenings, the idea taking a walk and then working a little bit later is a viable plan.

Same here.

Uff! Really did NOT want to train today. I did the thing anyways!

Bench 97 x 5 x 3
Pin Press 66 x 5 x 4
Chins 15 reps and that was 5-4-4-2

Done!

I asked my wife is she wanted to go for a walk post-work and pre-dinner. We ended up doing 4.25 miles. We are on the quest for the 5 mile loop

I hurt my back earlier this week (doing exercised incorrectly I think), but it doesn’t hurt any more when I’m riding my bike than not, so I took off early today and did 22 miles or so.
I’m a fair weather biker, so my season is coming to an end soon. I will use my indoor bike some, but I have really enjoyed biking outside this year. I’ve put more miles on my bike this year than any other.
Just a little over 5 months and work won’t stand between me and biking.

That’s exciting @1214mom ! Just in time for the new biking season!

@1214mom

Those five months are going to fly by!

I’ve enjoyed reading about your mileage. Your love of biking really comes thru!

Thanks @Midwest67. I would like biking more if I could take off for long rides out my door, but I definitely do enjoy it.
It’s kind of funny - both of my sons, who used to consider it a form of torture to have to ride with us, are now into biking. They are 24 and 26.
@abasket, part of the reason I waited until next spring to retire is that I want the weather to be nice, so I have more to do with myself.
I was actually talking to my friend on the ride yesterday, and he was talking about someone he knows advocating for biking at the county/state level. I may look into something like that for a retirement activity.

Ran the virtual MCM 10K this morning. It was warm (61 degrees when we started at 7:30), humid and muggy. Not my running weather. I did run a PR for this distance (1:06:56), but I was hoping to run a bit faster based on last weeks 10 miler pace. But whatever.

@1214mom that sounds so much like my kids and running! D (now 29) was on dance team in HS and did not get why several of her friends were on cross country and track. S (now 24) similarly hated running. Now they both run although neither of them enjoy it as much as I do.
