DW skipped walking today but I went by myself (this is a 1st because I usually need the motivation of companionship).
I did a quick 3 mile loop-- it felt easy and good.

I’m oddly chipper this morning. Must be the weather. 36* this morning. I didn’t feel like I was going to die while running and my 30 min on the stairmonster felt solid. And the lifting workout was hard, but fun. I have started using the space heater in club coronagym. It was 48* in there this morning. I’m fine with that. We will see how I feel if it gets to be 28* in there. I might need longer fingered lifting gloves. LOL.
I did have a strange wake-up though. About 15 min before my alarm I heard voices talking. It was loud enough to wake me up while wearing earplugs. It sounded like someone was right outside my house. Took out the earplugs and it was my phone. Somehow my workout video just started playing. Weird, but I’m glad some creepy people weren’t outside at 3:30am!
Now I just need to keep my head down for the rest of the day. We had a brief moment about politics a bit ago, but fortunately that has died down. Most people here do not share my views, so it’s tough.
Good job, @ClassicMom98 That’s funny about your video playing! My friend and I have signed up for a virtual 10K that is replacing one of the larger charity runs in our area. I haven’t done an official running or walking event in years, so I’m looking forward to the challenge. They send you a race number and some swag. We walked/ran an hour this morning.
Good luck @HighTide2020 !
5 miles at the trails, it was so nice out. What a pleasure to get outside!
Bought the Nordic Track bike over the weekend. Only did one workout and I’m going to enjoy the outdoors while I can. But the bike is really nice. Lots of workouts to do.
@deb922, tell me about your Nordic Track bike.
My son (who wasn’t into biking as of last February) just bought a $1200 indoor trainer to work with his new $6,000 bike. Clearly, he’s decided he likes biking.
I decided against the $1200 trainer for me, but I’m debating about whether I need a “trainer” which connects to my bike, or a high quality indoor bike. I like the idea of the trainer taking up less floor space/being easier to store, and I would likely spend less than $1000 on it, vs a new indoor bike which would be bigger and harder to store.
My understanding is that if you do a lot of outdoor cycling, the trainer is the way to go (as opposed to a separate indoor stationary bike). You can use all sorts of platforms online like Zwift. And it’s your “real” bike.
Thanks @HighTide2020. That supports what I’m already thinking.
I suppose part of the decision point will be which room you use for indoor training (we use our upstairs den) and how often you anticipate taking the bike outside during the winter. In Colorado, we often get nice enough weather in winter for biking outdoors. When we lived in NY, not so much.
Great soccer night. Simply counting the part that Fitbit counts as “exercise” just under 7K steps in 84 minutes. Toss in the rest of the day and I’m north of 10K for the day.
Tomorrow will be a walking day
@1214mom i just saw this.
We’ve had a bike trainer before, my bil has a very fancy bike trainer and computer system that simulates bike routes.
I like the Nordic Track. It’s extremely quiet. It comes with a year of ifit that has tons of studio classes and bike route simulations. I can do spin classes, my husband can do bike routes. There are a ton of options.
I found a bike trainer and the treadmill to be so boring. I’m hoping that interactive classes will be less boring It’s not being outside but there are lots of days that aren’t good to be outside so I wanted another option
Tonight my wife said she needed 3 miles to hit her daily goal. We ended up walking 3.5 miles.
We adopted a dog this week so I’ve added in the task of trying to get in both dog exercise and MY exercise!!! Ran yesterday. Today, 3 dog walks and then a 3 mile walk at my own speed - but he actually walks a pretty good pace!
How exciting on the new dog, @abasket! What kind? I bet he will help with your exercise.
Not much sleep last night, but got out mid-morning for a break from work and walked/ran 6 miles.
Thanks for asking @HighTide2020 - he’s a 2 year old corgi/beagle. Interesting because our last dog was corgi/beagle - they somewhat look the same, yet very different! I bet he would be a good dog to run with, but I don’t know that running that way is my thing! Not when you’re 61 and don’t want to fall!
A dog! That is so great.
I have an indoor trainer and a Peloton.( I am spoiled. ) My trainer is low tech (was on sale). It rides more authentically, but is less comfortable for TV watching. I can put it away when I am not training so that is good.
The Peloton is really H’s. He bought it for my birthday but he is the one who uses it. (Am I Peloton wife?)
We have a Peleton but DH uses it a lot more than I do. I REALLY like to get outside. Had an IT issue this morning which delayed me getting out the door. Walked/ran 45 minutes and hope to get out again later.
5.3 miles at the trails. We are having a warm spell and I am enjoying getting outside this week! Nothing replaces getting outdoors
Can I blame any weight I gain this week on election stress? I have not been as good as I would like to be. I did walk for about 45 minutes today, and I may get on my indoor bike soon.
I’m not drinking wine, in support of my husband (he has to have a colonoscopy tomorrow and can’t eat/drink much of anything). So he’s doubly stressed
Good luck to your husband @1214mom ! Not sure which is worse - the election drama or the colonoscopy.
Usual yoga and walk today. I’m off tomorrow so I have more time in the morning to run. Trying out a new route for Saturday mornings!
