Fitness, Nutrition and Health- All Welcome (Hardcore and “Light”)

I went to get a Covid test at my doctor yesterday, and the nurse said, “You’ve lost 10 pounds since you were here last!” Made my day.

Wow @STEM2017 Congratulations on the hard work and great result.

I’ve lost 10 pounds during COVID. I wasn’t trying to, and since I’m tall I’m not sure it really shows anyway, but it taught me how much junk I was eating when I was out and about in the work world.

10K walk/run this morning. It was windy but sunny. I’m not a fan of wind.

Tuesday is weigh-in & I’ve gained back a few pounds. That fits in with my goals — I’d welcome more muscle mass on my frame with a slow increase in weight on the scale.

I thought today was going to feel like roadkill, but chalk it up to Go Figure! — all good.

Week 2 of my 3 week cycle.

Press 64 x 5 x 5

Bench 93 x 5 x 4

LTE 53 x 8 x 3

Curls 46 x 8 x 3

The press is still difficult for me. Form looked good on the video and it wasn’t obvious how much my legs were shaking from trying to stay tight.

This weekend one of the Starting Strength coaches pressed 405# at a meet!!! It is a magnificent lift. I hope to press 100# one day, but that is a long way off at my new slower pace!

Did a 20 minute ride through Moab on my Nordic Track bike and 30 on the treadmill watching The Crown.

Moab!

I’m excited - I should be getting my new exercise bike delivered next Wednesday.
I’ve done nothing productive today in the exercise department :frowning:
But I didn’t have any wine… how’s that for balance?

@STEM2017 - I’m impressed! That shows good dedication.

Got my 90 minutes of soccer in. Temp was in the low 40s with a brutal wind that made it feel way colder.

Because of the rollback due to the on-going spike in cases, bars close at 10PM so no post-soccer beer tonight.

Changed it up this morning and rode DH’s Peleton bike for an hour. I prefer to be outside, for sure, but it gave my legs a little change of pace.

Squats 162.5 x 5 x 3

Deadlifts 192.5 x 5 x 3

Last few training sessions I’ve brought my hands in on the squat, about the width of my thumb. Plus, watching the videos that my elbows stay further down than before.

All in hopes of allowing that stupid painful elbow tendinitis to heal!

Tomorrow is a rest day. Going to a new shooting range with my brother (great rental selection!) then picking up one of the kids at the airport.

So happy!

1:15 on the bike trainer.

15 min warm up.

30 second all out sprints every 5 min for 50 min.

10 min cool down.

Brutal. Lost at least 2 pounds of water weight.

4 miles outside. Love being outside if I can. It was 20 degrees out, I was plenty warm. Tomorrow it’s going to be 50, will feel like a heat wave

Took the day off from exercise. I went to a 1pm mammogram appointment, and then hubby and I went for a late lunch outside of a local brewpub. It was 73 degrees and sunny (and no other diners) … not sure we’ll have any more opportunities like that til spring. Now I’m headed to the back yard for some reading in the sun.

My wife is having her weekly get together with a friend so I was on my own for dinner.

I did a 3 mile round trip walk to pick up a sub from my favorite place. Doing this was sort of a milestone. Pre my new attitude I would have just driven.

We had our first freeze! It was 27* this morning. I was going to mostly ride the bike at the gym, but I started with a slow walk/run and it felt OK, so I did most of it outside. I only spent 20 minutes on the bike before heading home. But I think I shall renamed Club Coronagym to the Fortress of Solitude for the winter. It was 42 degrees in there. It would have been fine except my butt/back were all sweaty from the bike. Once the heater got going and I got going, it felt OK. It helped that the video of the day was “Cardio and Core.”

Cool but nice this morning so got outside for an hour run/walk. Having some niggling pain in my right hip, so took it a little easier. Walked the dog wearing sandals yesterday and that might not have been a good idea.

It was 28 degrees here in NoVA at 7:30. I had finished my Sunrise Yoga zoom so bundled up and went out for a 2 mile walk.

I was not going to run on Thanksgiving because my usual Turkey Trot race went virtual, but 2 of my running friends and a 261 Fearless coach are running a different virtual 5K that morning (which supports a really good cause), so I’m in.

Cold day here also, I did go out for a walk but not at my usual 7am time, I went at lunch. I also extended my walk a bit so it was 4.5 miles.

I did a workout video yesterday, one I like which has left me sore. I was stronger on some of the exercises and less sore overall afterwards.

for any who may be interested, WW has changed their program/app a little, now calling it ww+. They are adding more positive encouraging things, mini goals and short coaching things. I think it is overall positive. For me this program helps in the weekly workshops which give me encouragement and a chance to hear how others are doing. I would say they give validation also, but the requirement to go to a studio to weigh in has been extended again until after the new year.

It sounds like WW/ww+ has some good programs.

We had our last day of nice weather today (low 60s, VERY sunny) because it starts getting cooler again. I ran 5k when still in the 50s and was considering going further due to the lovely conditions. The decision was easy to make once I realized I had lost the “runner sleeves” (for cooler initial conditions) that were tucked in my water/phone belt. I did find them, YAY! Decided might as well just do another full 5k.

@colorado_mom

Glad you found your gear! I get soooo frustrated when I lose stuff —- happens more frequently than I’d like to admit!
