Fitness, Nutrition and Health- All Welcome (Hardcore and “Light”)

My wife and I did a nice 3.3 mile walk, post-work and pre-dinner

My lost gear today was freebie set of sleeve-tube thingies that son left behind from his mountain biking days. But I was still keen on finding them because they worked really well today paired with short sleeved shirt during cool start, and it would cost money to replace them. They look something like this - https://customsportssleeves.com/products/running-arm-sleeves-pair

I’ve been using Noom since October 1. I had lost 4 pounds before starting, and I’m down another 12. I have started run/walking again. I’m purposely not exercising TOO much because I tend to overeat when I do. I have a long way to go, but this is a good start. I really like Noom a lot - the daily notes from my coach, the chat with other people, food logging, and articles to read are all very helpful.

That’s great progress @MaineLonghorn . Congratulations. What do you normally do for exercise?

@HighTide2020 thanks! Usually running, mixed in with some walking. I also have an exercise bike but I don’t like it as much. Although a PT told me that my body is not made for running, I still enjoy it and do it anyway!

I thought I check-in today. I’m still reading about everyone’s journey. Great job to everyone out there!

I thought last week was a de-load week, but actually, it’s this week. I guess that’s a good thing when you think it’s a de-load week, when it isn’t.

Thursdays are usually my “active recovery” days, but I did go to the gym last night and ran, rowed and cycled for about 40 minutes. I also rolled out a lot, which feels great on the body.

The owners of the gym brought back the Nespresso machine, which was taken away post-Covid back in March and also re-installed the Speal (pull-up) bar where less chalk is needed and you’re less likely to tear up your hands when you do lots of pull-ups or toes-to-bar. They’ve always been really nice to me, the old guy in the gym. I typically will have a Nespresso prior to my workout. Caffeine always makes me work harder.

The only issue that I have with the gym is that there’s this one guy who NEVER wears his mask. And I haven’t yet figured out if I want to say something or not. I/we keep the large roll-up door open and fans going, but I’m obviously personally bothered by it. What’s unusual is that I’m usually very outspoken. I guess I don’t want to ruin the friendly dynamic of the gym.

That’s great @MaineLonghorn I’m increasing my walking to running, gradually. @sushiritto I was wondering what sort of workout equipment the Nespresso machine was!

@sushirrito , I’m really surprised by the lack of mask. I’m pretty sure I know what county you’re in (I’m not far from you) and I feel like your county has been pretty adamant about them.

Me? Walking and running. I’m pretty boring, but at least moving.

“Although a PT told me that my body is not made for running,” - Ha, didn’t know there were running body types. Oh, was it related to an injury discussion?

Bench 98 x 5 x 3

Pin Press 68 x 5 x 4

Skipping chins. It’s late, it’s been a high stress day, and I want dinner and to be asleep.

Some days are just like that.

This has been a bad week for me when it comes to exercise, but today I did manage a brisk hour walk during work and another 3ish miles after work.
This may be the worst or second worst week I’ve had since COVID started (Roughly March in my measurement).

I hate running unless I’m on a soccer field, so I will just walk.

My plans for tonight got screwed up when my wife’s train to visit D2 was delayed almost 2 hours so she moved her ticket to tomorrow.

Tomorrow should be insane-- I’m playing soccer for 2 hours and then will walk for an hour in the afternoon so 14-15K steps is likely.

Tomorrow is day 250 of Club Coronagym/Fortress of Solitude, but it’s my off day! Hard to believe we’ve been members for so long. Today I also finished The Work for the second time. Technically, tomorrow is the last day, but it’s just a short “range and recover” stretching type and I’ve been doing them on Wednesdays instead.

The workout: 100 reps of 8 exercises. Weighted runner lunge jumps, diamond push-ups, weighted sumo squat jumps, Arnold presses, weighted rotating planks, weighted alternating lunge jumps and finish with burpees on sliders!

I think it was harder mentally because I knew what how bad it would hurt. And I’m just not feeling life. I’m so angry at work. It’s hard not to let it creep into the rest of my life. But I did it. And I finished. And I think I took fewer breaks. I am proud and beat

Good job, @ClassicMom98 ! Sorry about the work stuff.

Decent fall day here today. Went out for 90 minutes of running/walking. Tried more of a system instead of “walk when I feel like it.” Ran 10 minutes, walked 3 minutes. Liking the New Balance shoes. They feel very cushioned.

The walk part of my day didn’t happen.

I played 90+ minutes of soccer and got in north of 7k steps

Deadlifts 207.5 x 5 x 3

Squats 152.5 x 5 x 4 (uff)

Off tomorrow & not hiking. I think I’ll knock off the grocery list. Rest day Monday as well. Yay!

I rode outside for 24 miles. It was a little chilly at the start but warmed up nicely.

7 mile run with my small group. We ran in a new location (where one person lives) and it turns out to be an area with a lot of running paths so we will be going back there. We like new scenery!

I am doing another shinrin-yoku (Japanese forest bathing) session tomorrow - this one will also incorporate yoga. S is coming with me.

A gym with a Nespresso is my kind of gym!!!

I want mine on the way out though…

My workplace has had a couple of “health related” challenges this fall. Last week was complete a 5k walking or running to be entered for some prizes. No problem, I entered one of my runs.

Friday I signed up for a health and wellness challenge - not a lot of details but sounded like there would be several “tasks” you would have to complete to be entered to win one of several standing desks. Now THAT would be a great prize!!! We will see what the challenges are.
