That’s a long time on the pickleball court!!!
Continue by routine of 3 miles of something before work and usually another couple miles of something mid-work day or after work. Last week we vacationed in NYC and averaged 12-15 miles of walking each day.
This time of year I take full advantage of the early morning light and coolness. Was out the door this morning at 5:50am to run a couple miles before work and before pup walk. No need to any extra lighting on me!

I played another 30 minutes of pickle ball today, this time I finally got out there early, but again, it’s too hot even that early.

I took Sunday to rest up for Memorial Day or “Murph” day. Last year, my time wasn’t too bad at 54 minutes. This year, I “crushed” it at 48:30. Plenty of room for quicker pacing. And I actually don’t even feel sore or anything today.
My running mileage has been down the last 6 months, but I ran two very good miles at the front and back ends. Now back to my regularly scheduled programming.

Such a thoughtful gesture. I like seeing people doing this each year.

Nice job, @sushiritto ! It’s nice when you have an activity where you are better even though a year older.
Yesterday was the Bolder Boulder event, a 10K run/walk that typically draws 50,000 participants (but maybe was less this year, after 2 year covid hiatus). It’s a fun community event, with some walkers pushing baby carriages. It’s a day that we steer clear of the traffic, but I like reading about it.
Yesterday I rode my bike a mile or so to the lake and then ran my usual 5k lake trail loop. Plus another slower 1.5k. Then a bike loop. As I was contemplating a 2nd bike loop, a friend (with husband in rehab with a broken hip) called to take me up on the idea to walk together. So I rode home, then walked to the lake with her. Then lots of gardening and mulch work in the afternoon. Lots more exercise than usual. I’ve called it my Longer Longmont event.

I can’t believe, I’ve stumbled on to something. I love fresh cherries and the last few days they were on sale for 99c to $1.49, so of course my husband and I had loads of them. I noticed 2 days in a row we couldn’t get up at our normal time, now after some googling, here is why, cherries help with sleep. We normally sleep 8 hours, so it’s not sleep deprived either, but this is extra on top.

I didn’t know about the sleep component of cherries, but aiding recovery and and other health benefits I did know about. Thanks, we love cherries here.

Well, 3 days later and my body is still trying to recover from Monday. I’m glad it’s only once a year. Oy!
Now, that’s not unusual for this “event,” but nonetheless the recovery time is not helping in my normal training for this week. Today is typically an active recovery day, so I’ll just do some basic cardio such as rowing, running and the air bike.
BTW, our gym finally replaced the broken treadmill. Again, this is a barbell-oriented gym, so cardio is not what generally appeals to the membership. The gym owner bought a curved manual treadmill (CMT). It’s an interesting piece of equipment. No power, just you and the tread is curved upwards. Not really made for long runs, but mainly for HIIT’s.
I’m still trying to get used to it. My MPH still varies more than I desire. It’s very cushion-ey, so for those with bad joints, and want to walk and/or run, the CMT would make an excellent choice for home gym equipment.

I was supposed to play pickle ball today but my husband got up at 2 A.M. to watch the Platinum Jubilee so he went back to sleep after it ended. So I went swimming this morning for 30-40 minutes. I had the whole place and jacuzzi to myself. I would say it’s almost paradise again, but I didn’t like the trash people left nearby table. Why can’t people pick up after themselves. Of course the crows were there to ransack over the leftover food.

I continue to do a combo of walking, bike riding and now pickleball. I’m already stressing about going to a mini-family reunion next week. I’m not sure how I’ll get my rings closed/get enough exercise.

Gardening (at home and the church garden) seems to be getting more of my time than running these days… tis the season, and it brings me joy - all is good. I did ride to the lake trail yesterday with intention of running but due to wind and ominous clouds did a bike loop instead. Figured it would be faster to skadaddle back home if needed.

Gross heat here last week. I ended practice for my kindergarten team a few minutes early because they were totally gassed. I killed my entire 32 oz water bottle during/after.
It was still kind of gross when I played a couple of hours later. It was gross enough that i brought an extra shirt to change into before heading to the bar.
We had big storms Thursday and the weather since has been glorious. Yesterday I played someplace around 100 minutes of soccer and then my wife and i took one of the longer ways to dinner (3 4 miles there and 1 home). Total strp count for day was 22.8K

We went and played 30 minutes of pickle ball after we voted. The sun was getting hotter so we quit early. But I rather get some exercise than no exercise.
We always eat organic vegetables from my garden, it pays to garden in that sense, plus the exercise, and the tremendous benefits to our mental health.

Quick check-in. Summer is here. I did a quick 5 miles outside, then 30 min on the stairmonster. I was feeling woozy (like I have all week and likely all summer), so I did an easy 15 min c/d on bike. This is what I left afterwards, and the picture doesn’t really show that it’s a puddle not just stained. Disgusting. I’m going to have to start changing clothes mid-workout I think. Next week, we will be visiting the kids, so I may do nothing. Or maybe a few short runs. Nothing much for sure.
Afterwards though, I’m going to start 80 Day Obsession for real - with before and after pics and everything. My sister has been very unhappy with herself lately, and I’m not feeling the most awesome myself, so I suggested we do this together. Though a note, her normal is 5-3/115 pounds, and she only has maybe 10 pounds she wants to lose. She got the tiny bird bone genes. I got the amazon genes. But we are excited. The program will end just after I turn 50, so I’m hoping to be in great shape by then. Hopefully, it will at least help my attitude through the season of hell.

Be sure to note your progress on the 80 day stint here! That’s a big commitment - maybe helps having someone to do it with.

I haven’t been on because I have been hurt/busy/prepping for colonoscopy. I am totally out of sorts eating- and exercise-wise. So tired of being off my game.

I hope you feel better soon @Youdon_tsay.
Today I played 45 minutes of pickle ball, finally got out early before the sun’s out.
My husband and I also decided to curtail the indoor activities for a while, maybe later in the year when the weather is bad, we will doing these activities again. Right now it’s time to play outside.

@Youdon_tsay - Sending good vibes that you’ll soon be able to be back on your game. You’ve had some great achievements and been a fine inspiration to others here, but sometimes ya gotta endure a rain delay.
This morn I had to defer a run due to other stuff, so by the time I hopped on the bike to “commute” to my lake trail for a run it was mid 70s and sunny. Usually I aim for cooler temps, so mostly I’m just proud to have done it even if a bit slow… Had a scare with a light sun shower but it passed quickly and was not a problem.
QUESTION FOR PADDLE BOARDERS: Do you have a recommendation for strap thingy to hold sunglasses in place? We discovered that there is a vendor renting paddle boards each weekend at the local lake. In Feb last winter in Hawaii I almost lost an old, beloved extra pair of prescription sunglasses but got lucky on recovery in clear, calm water at Waikiki Beach.

I always am on some kind of workout training schedule, so it’s not that big of a deal workout wise. The don’t overeat is the hard part. Taking the pics and measurements is never fun, but it really does help to keep me on track. I usually do that once every 4-5 years or so.
But I really hope it helps my sister. She went back to teaching a few years ago and let her workouts suffer. I told her summer is the time to get back on track.

I’ll also add that it’s so much nicer in the digital age. The first time H and I switched to this style of eating, it was 1999. We did before and after pictures and you had to go to the photo studio to pick them up! Ugh!!! Lol!!! So much nicer now.
