You do so much soccer and other activity that I’m surprised your BMI is greater than 30. Maybe you’re one of those super-muscular guys!
That made me curious so just checked mine again. Still “overweight” but less than 10 pounds from a 25. It’s interesting that my goal weight actually aligns with the BMI chart. That’s a coincidence.
Boo I’m sorry about covid! Ugh! That’s great you could get Paxlovid. I’m guessing nobody around here would give it to me. I have a feeling doctors would look at me and say “you’ll be fine.”
I have Kaiser and they have an automated evisit tool to request it. It is a simple set of yes/no questions and the answers go to a Doc that reviews the information and makes the decision. I did the tool at noon and the prescription was available within a couple of hours
You are lucky! I grew up with Kaiser when I lived up there. I don’t have a regular doctor other than the lady one. Most around here are iffy. If you need something serious, most people go out of town if at all possible. So I just go to Urgent Care if I REALLY have to…
Actually, I have a new doctor as of a few months ago. I have not seen her yet, nor do I have any plans to. I didn’t like seeing my old doctor either.
At some point, I’m thinking we’ll all catch Covid. So I’m kinda curious about this age and BMI thing for Paxlovid. If they’re “looking” for a BMI of 30+, then I won’t qualify for Paxlovid.
This is totally not your situation, but a friend’s dh got Covid and he was advised by Kaiser NOT to take Paxlovid, even though he was 64 and morbidly obese. I think the reason is a fear of it being difficult on his kidneys? He’s not on dialysis or anything; I’m not even sure he is diabetic. But it surpised me because I though he’d be a slam dunk for it.
I believe kidney issues are a big red flag for paxlovid. They have a loser dosage available if you are on certain drugs or have mild kidney issues, but the big issue listed was poor kidney function.
When I had covid, I was able to go on paxlovid. I’m 60 but in otherwise good health.
It was like a spigot turned on. I think I had 2 doses and immediately felt so much better. After I finished my course, I had one day where I felt a little bit worse but it was very mild.
My husband waited too long and wasn’t able to take paxlovid. He was miserable for weeks. He has some autoimmune issues so I think he would have really benefited from the paxlovid.
The problem is that you don’t know if you’ll be the person who will feel better after a couple of day or the person that it will linger for weeks. I thought the paxlovid was a game changer for me.
I met Ian’s next door neighbor this morning. I drove to the gym with the hopes of getting in the run before the rain hit. If not, at least I’d be close by. I’m happy to say that I made it, and it was surprisingly decent. I’m never a fan of 15-30mph winds, but I was just glad to get it done. Tomorrow morning’s long run won’t happen. IF I decide to go out, and it’s a big if, I’ll likely cut it to 30 min. We are due to get 3" of rain and 30-50 mph wind gusts. Nothing catastrophic, but not long run type weather. The worst should hit this afternoon/early tomorrow morning. Crossing fingers we keep power.
Finished up with 25 min on the bike, abs, arm balance practice and then my 30 min video. I am slightly less sore this week - emphasis on slightly…
I played over 2.5 hours of pickleball this morning. I’ve had kind of slacker week, even though I’ve gotten my rings closed every day, so I was happy to tire myself out this morning. I also won most (or maybe all) of my games - yay me!
Nada for me this morning. We lost power at 9:30 last night. As of 10pm 1/3 of the area was out. Just figured I’d sleep in. We have so few people actually working anymore that we always borrow people from other areas, but I assume those people are aiding FL and SC. So I figure this will take awhile.
On the bright side, we are used to this - we usually lose it every couple of months or so - though usually only for 6ish hours. And we are headed to S’ parent weekend - to go sit in the 50s rain and wind for a football game. Lol. At least they have power.
Bummer about the power loss. I hope you don’t have a lot in your fridge, and it comes back on before you have to throw freezer stuff away!
Hope it doesn’t rain too hard at the game, etc, too.
Wasn’t super motivated for a Saturday morning so I compromised with myself and did three activities stretched out over the course of a couple hours. 1.5 miles each of tabata, pup walk and run.
