I’m so sorry about your mom! Of course that is so much stress on you!
Good workout though and even those walks in the hospital are helpful and necessary sometimes for body and sanity!

OMG - I hope your mom is getting better. Very scary. You probably needed that workout more than you know.
I’m at 293 days of getting at least 500 calories of exercise a day.
I thought I might quit the “streak” after 200. Now I think about 300, but since I’ll be close, it would be kind of cool to say I was good about exercise every single day for a year.
At this point I won’t consider myself a failure if I choose not to exercise some day soon.
It’s kind of interesting to note that it really isn’t that hard to get 500 calories of exercise in, if you’re fairly active. The hardest days are travel days.
I think I might be emerging from the other side. My heart rate went back to normal yesterday. My voice still isn’t back. first thing in the morning, it’s completely gone, but it gets somewhat better as the day progresses. I can communicate now. Just sound weird. And my skin looks/feels terrible. Like my face aged 10 years this week. I hope that will right itself. But I don’t feel like a diseased blob emitting dangerous particles from every pore 24-7 anymore.
I’m not in a huge hurry to be back up and running. I did some stuff around the house today and went for a walk around the block. All of 10 min. It felt ok. Next few days will be short walks and stretching and I’ll go from there. Hopefully in a week I can try something more real.
Sounds like you got hit decently hard?! Glad you’re starting to feel some improvement
How your husband?
He had like 2 days of mild cold symptoms that nobody would have even noticed but me. Grumble.
I was having a really rough morning, but then I worked out and, voila, endorphins. I am so grateful that I have an exercise habit to help me through the rough times. And all of you people!
Gotta take care of yourself so you can take care of others!!!
Squats and bench today for strength. I would typically do deads today too, but I thought I’d give my back some rest. Small tweak Friday doing cleans.
Followed by a 1 mile run, 10 rope climbs, 1-mile run and 46 GHD sit-ups. So I thought this would too easy and wore my 20 lb weight vest.
Does it happen to you guys to feel more tired after working out?
I’d say it’s a different type of tired. Usually, when I wake up I’m sleepy and stiff. After a workout, my muscles are tired, I may be exhausted, but I feel better if that makes sense. Now two hours after sitting hunched at my desk and I try to stand up, then I’m all stiff again lol.
Do I ever feel worse after working out vs before? It does happen, but generally no.
In the old day (especially while pregnant) if I really didn’t feel like working out, I’d bargain with myself. Go for 10 minutes. If you still don’t feel like working out, stop and go home. Almost always I’d feel better and keep going, but every once in awhile I would turn around and go home.
One thing I’ve learned… or relearned… I’d so much rather work from home than being in an office with people. My voice is getting there, but I put up signs saying I’m not allowed to talk, so that helps. I don’t want to rehash everything over and over all day and listen to how it’s not a big deal, and how the vaccines didn’t help me. I am supposed to mask all week. I will. It doesn’t bother me at all and also keeps people from talking to me. Ha. I really am a loner.
And of course the week I want to just be outside (not in the gym where I might get infected with something else) and slowly get back - it has to rain every day for the next week. I went to the gym to ride the bike, but the rain seemed to stop, so I slowly ran/walked loops near the shopping center for 32 min, and just walked to 40 min. Then I went home and did a 30 min Yoga video in my den (not the shed) where it’s warmer. We will see how I do with that. Fortunately, my lungs never seemed to be affected.
WFH can really be a plus even part of the time, but of course is not always possible for all jobs/employers!
I think you are smart to get back into your routine slowly and make sure your body can handle it and move forward. And I’m glad you chose the cosy den instead of the chilly shed!
From a technology standpoint, I could work from home. I’m essentially a project team of 1. My big boss doesn’t believe in it. He doesn’t even believe in voice mail. I’m not kidding. He had IT disable it for their offices. And any semi-important email and printed out and distributed to all.
Maybe when first starting out I would feel tired, but now that it’s a habit I feel energized. Endorphins are your friends.
We were blessed with a spring-like day yesterday, so I was able to play an hour of tennis for the first time since late November. It felt great to get out there and yes, get those endorphins churning. I’m super sore (legs and abs) today, so it must have been a workout.
I played soccer last night for the 1st time in 3 weeks (skipped twice because of being sick). It was definitely rough to get back out there. But it also felt good
Today was my first day back in the gym for cardio. 37* rain I wasn’t about to do. I didn’t like being people, but what can you do. 20 min stairmonster, 25 min bike, abs, and then I high tailed it out of there and did 30 min of yoga at home.
I discovered or rediscovered Travis Eliot on YouTube. I have done a couple of his yin classes before. I didn’t know he did other stuff. I like him a lot, and I remember how much I miss yoga. It hits all the spots you just don’t use. I’m just not sure where I can fit it in regularly. Doing it at home with H at home doesn’t work well.
Another day of 35* rain. Blech. This is the story our of winters here. At least Thursdays are the least crowded days at the gym. I felt a little better there. 25 min stair monster with slightly longer hard intervals and shorter interval/rest ratio. Followed by 30 min on the bike. More abs and then a Celeste Pereira video. I love her too.
Tis winter!
I exercise inside this time of year due to dark before work, but was thrilled to have double digits in temperature (18!) as opposed to the single digits and zero degree wind chill the last could of days for the pup walk part of my morning!
