My son said that Monday looks hot where he lives.
I’ll quote you quoting me.
The hotter the better for me. Unfortunately for me, only a high of 70 is forecasted for here.
Waiting for check-in from @sushiritto. Hope today goes/went well for you.
Sorry, but it’s tomorrow. Typically run on Memorial Day itself.
I actually shortened my trip out of town to get back Sunday night (tonight) and “get er done.” My family was really happy about that.
I think the only way to break last year’s time is go out on the run at a faster pace. The dilemma is how winded do I want to be while getting the other exercises done. And how fast I can squat without figuratively killing myself.
Give it your best!
It’s been a busy and active long weekend with good structured exercise and also lots of outdoor work at home, the garden and some DIY projects.
We have those same passes
Oops - I knew that, but got ahead of myself :).
Good weekend for exercise.
Rode 42 miles yesterday. Today the weather was very iffy, but we decided to risk it and
Lay pickleball. It spit-rained for a few minutes, but we played for over 2 hours, wand I didn’t take any breaks.
Let’s do this, @sushiritto! OK, well, I mean, YOU do this. You got this!
That Murph looks tough. But gosh, if I wanted to exercise with an extra 20 pounds I could have just skipped my weight loss
The Murph results are in. I sucked. Slower by 2 minutes? Oy!
The pace of each of my 1-mile runs were 30 seconds faster than last year. So, +1 minute there. The rest (100 pullups/200pushups/300 squats) is where I fell apart. So, +3 minutes there.
I did it by myself, although the gym owner said he did it earlier in the morning. No one else showed up.
But hey, I set a PR on squats last week, so there’s always that.
In terms of the Murph video above, with all due respect to the person shown in the video, essentially all his reps, at least in terms of pullups and squats are “no reps.” The standard is chin over bar for the pullups and hip crease below knee for the squat. So, he would be repeating reps until he passed the CF standard.
I feel awful, and I’m thinking as a sort of penance, that I may be going back to the gym later.

Iremember girls soccer getting rougher than I liked when not much older than that (more so at games where there was a young and inexperience ref). [/quote]
The 1st physical game is always a shock to the kids. There are couple of players on my 4th grade team that figured out the physical part of the game early. I’ve made a point this season of chatting with the refs asking them to call it tight so my players figure out the boundaries.
With my 1st graders, we’ve been plying some games in practice that end up with them bumping into each other instead of always backing away.
I know your standards are high and you’ll feel frustrated by your (still stellar) results. If I understand correctly this yearly tribute to veterans on Memorial Day is a nod to their effort and potential suffering. You accomplished a tribute to that. Carry that at the least on your shoulders high!
See ya next year!
I’m glad you said something about those pull-ups. They wouldn’t have counted for Coach Rasco in middle school either.
You are the only non-owner at your gym to even attempt so that’s a win. You probably intimidated them!
Not too mention the person in the video didn’t lock out their elbows and achieve full extension at the bottom of the pullup, but I digress.
I can’t even claim that “crown.”
When I went back to the gym this afternoon for some light (deload week) strength training, squats and bench press were programmed, the other CF’er (sometimes) was there doing his Murph. He finished about 6-7 mins faster than I, but he’s in his mid-30’s.
I feel it’s an Advil night.
Let’s see what this wet behind the ears kid is able to do when he ripens up. betcha won’t be able to beat you.
Good job today!
Even Mark Zuckerberg beat me with a 39:58.
And amazingly, he beat 40:00 by 2 seconds. Not that I’m doubting him at all.
I’m going to be skeptical and say, yeah, OK, Mark.
Did you do it sequentially or partitioned, like he talked about?
I performed it “partitioned.” It’s very rare for someone to perform it “unpartitioned” or “sequentially.” At the CF Games (where the best compete), they’ve done it both ways.
The object of the workout is to keep moving and if you’re doing any of one of the exercises, except the run, unpartitioned or sequentially, then nearly everyone would hit a failure point w/o no time for recovery. Meaning, breaking up each exercise allows a modest recovery time for the next round.
I believe a lot of people use the method of 20 rounds of 5 pullups, 10 pushups and 15 squats. I used a mixture of 5/10/15 (beginning and end) and 10/20/30 (middle).
Under 40 minutes is the standard between an elite and advanced athlete. So, Zuck would be considered in the elite athlete category.
