^^ Agree with @FallGirl . Also I’ll put in a plug to ask you if you have appropriate shoes for running. I remember (LOL) starting the C25K with this flat little Adidas fashion tennis shoes I had. That didn’t last long before my feet screamed!
I also will say that I knew doing the C25K was my own game to play. I did aim for the 3 x week. BUT if I did a day and I wasn’t satisfied with how it went or I felt I didn’t fully meet the requirements (maybe I stopped my running times early or whatever)I gave myself the liberty to repeat days on the next time I would be out. So I think it’s a 9 week program? It actually probably took me 11-12 weeks to complete. But when I finished I felt I like I truly FINISHED and COMPLETED the program.
One last trip over to the clubhouse for elliptical before saying goodbye to it for the virus closure tomorrow. Did 50 minutes, which is a new record for me (at least this injury time around). Got a good workout.
@FallGirl@abasket Thank you. I used to run years ago when I was in much better shape, but never tried this program. The days of 3 miles being an easy run are long past, but hopefully in my future. 3 days a week is doable, and I have all sorts of free time now…
And yes, brand new NB 860s purchased Friday. My ds20 is a 3 season runner, and he came with me to our local running shop. We ran into 2 kids who used to be on his XC team working because of college shut downs. They seemed in decent spirits considering.
You folks be careful. When you start combining movements like brushing your teeth and squats, you might get designated as CrossFitters.
I had a wonderfully long workout yesterday. I decided to go late in the afternoon in order to avoid people (who works out at 4 PM on a Saturday) and when I arrived the gym was empty. As my workout progressed a few people showed up. My workouts are like 10-15 minutes longer now, because of all the extra wiping and washing I do. And then I also wiped down the Nespresso machine and the water dispensing machine.
Today should be rest day, but I may run a few miles later.
I walked another 4 miles or so today, plus did some exercise with weights at home. I’m sure I didn’t burn enough calories to offset my stress eating. (Ben and Jerry’s anyone). I have a retired friend in the neighborhood, and if my organization shuts down we plan to walk every day. Her volunteer activities have all stopped.
Yesterday I totally rested on account of my “bad” knee (mild pain at night, usually when bending it … never hurts when walking or running). Last night it hurt more than usual, so today I took an hour walk in the lovely sunshine. Perhaps movement circulation will be good for it. LOTS of people were out walking , on paths and sidewalks. I think we were all a little more cordial than usual, smiling and saying Hi.
I had a pretty good 10 mile run this morning plus an ab video and stretching at the gym. The gym seemed to be at a normal level of activity. Saturday morning it was very empty. I did a yoga video on Saturday that was more advanced than I should have for my shoulder took a few steps backward. Or rather, my side delt and traps muscles felt strained. I’d like to start lifting some upper body this week, but it looks like it will be very light.
I think I got the last can of Clorox wipes Friday night at Target. It was just sitting by its lonesome on the shelf. I wondered what was wrong with it, but then took it as we don’t have any.
I spent the weekend doing outside jobs on my house (cleaning out shrub areas and pressure washing the walk) with a couple trips to home depot. Haven’t done much else but will do some online things today and hopefully a walk if it warms up.
My yoga place has closed and will be moving to online. The gym has supposedly taped off 6x6 squares and you need to stay in a square and wipe equipment before and after. Some classes modified.
Weight watchers is going to online meetings but the coordinator at my office is asking people if they plan to come in. Um, did you call them and see if they are willing? I don’t think so. And the site exec is encouraging (but not mandating. yet.) people WFH.
I’m trying to do the best I can while working remotely and with my neighborhood fitness area shut down. Walked 1.7 miles on my treadmill a little while ago and did some incline to get my HR up. I need to be careful with the healing stress fracture. I think I will space out walks throughout the day and try to do what I can. This is not the biggest issue our country is facing right now (my ability to work out).
Went for a “run” in a local nature preserve this morning. There was either a high school or college cross country team training there today. I have never felt shorter (heck, even these girls were 6’!), older, stumpier or slower than I did this morning “running” amidst this group. The only consolation was that they were moving so fast I wasn’t among them for very long so was soon free to flail along breathing like a rhinoceros all by myself once again.
Oh, and I’ve realized I have to use quotes around the “run” descriptor because compared to this group, whatever it is I’m doing is apparently something other than running.
@milee30 FORWARD is a pace! That happened to my daughter and me a few years ago. We were running in a park in Nashville and we heard the thundering of hooves and chit chat and here came the Vanderbilt women’s cross country team blowing by us like we were standing still. Very humbling.
Pleasantly sore from the HASfit workouts. Gyms in NYS are closed till further notice, so I’m glad I have TRX, bench and a big collection of dumbbells at home. Also a bike though I’d rather walk. Went for a 4.5 mile walk on Saturday, and about a 1.5 mile walk on Sunday. I thought I might try out youtube yoga today and probably a short walk.
