how easy is it to fit in at ucsb? i don't exactly fit into the "blonde, tan, and skinny" look that most girls seem to have at ucsb. do people judge a lot or are people more concerned with personality? are there a lot of stereotypes?

No matter what people say or how they try to act, they are always judging.

Remember that.

Now I am really nervous!

It’s quite easy actually. The campus is primarily an open one, and the doorways are usually big enough for students to fit through. Fitting in should be easy.

From what I can conclude, from visiting UCSB numerous times, most of the stereotypes are true. Guys are d-bags and Girls are hot, stuck-up, party atmosphere etc etc. There is ,however, always exceptions and I am sure you can find your niche.

Hahaha! Well I hope I can fit in, literally and figuratively!

Kids in SB work out more than they study.

Uh oh that’s not good for me

gabz, a number of my friends somewhat fit the CC stereotype. (Albeit in a much more rounded package.) And a number of my friends somewhat fit the frat boy/attractive girl mold. lol

At least 10 of them I know are already at junior status, and they can graduate 2 years early if they so choose. (I’m currently a sophomore-standing first year. . .this quarter and summer quarter, and I will be entering this fall as a junior).

Don’t worry gabz, you will fit in. Quite a number of people here don’t drink and smoke.

I don’t want to seem like a killjoy though because I like to have fun! I like to dance on tables

then you’ll be fine.

we Gauchos know how to study hard, party hard. (Well, I barely study. haha)

Haha some of you guys are ridiculous. I feel like none of the stereotypes about UCSB students are true. I would say that those stereotypes are true for a lot of the people that go to SBCC though.

Sbcc= death.

Youre all crazy, this place is extremely diverse and accepting…

Its like all the jocks and cheerleaders from around the world all decided to go to UCSB. Its all the typical “cool” kids. All pretty girls who daddys bought them BMW’s and the guys are all d-bags as the other poster put it.

There’s a joke that you go to UCSB for the weekend and get an STD for life.

I was at UCSB during the Spring Opening and I didn’t see any blonde skinny chicks.

I thought a lot of the students were unattractive though, haha… And they kinda dress like bums. So used to European standards…

You haven’t visited iv huh munaluna?

It was too far and I wanted to go somewhere to eat. If I have to go hunting for a blonde skinny chick, then the stereotype is inaccurate; especially since everyone I saw was pretty average looking in the the looks department. At SDSU, every 2 seconds a blonde skinny chick with her boobs hanging out walked past me.

At UCSD I saw mostly brunettes, but super friendly people. Everyone seemed pretty chill and friendly as hell. I talked to several people and I had a lot of fun. Sat down to have a bottle of water near the tower (or somewhere… IDK) and two frat kids sat by me and we started a convo.

So much better! IDK, I think people there are super chill.

welcome to life of IV.

^^They’re uglier than I remember. And they look like they smell like **** and beer. I don’t think White girls have attractive bodies either–UCSB probably isn’t the best place to find ethnic folk, sorry Bruh.

Well I’m black if that counts for anything.
