Flat Hat article about increase in applications

It looks as if W & M is joining the ranks of colleges with increased applications this year:

The Flat Hat: Applications expected to increase

I think this looks like good news for deferred OOS candidates. Though the overall number of applications is up, the number of out of state RD apps is down. Only 27 percent of accepted ED students were out of state; 35 percent of W & M students are usually out-of-state. So in my statistics-impaired mind, this seems to indicate that they'll have to accept a greater percentage of OOS applicants in the next round, and I'd expect more of them to come from the deferred pool than in the past.

A few other points of interest from the article:

ED apps were up slightly from last year, and the acceptance rate was increased, primarily for in-state students;

the SAT 25th/75th percentile for ED applicants was 1270/1400 (out of 1600).

Do you know if the SAT 20th/75th percentile is usually lower or higher ED than RD. I'd assume a bit lower but I've heard admission is a lot more competetive ED at William and Mary.

75th percentile overall is about 50 points higher. therefore RD will be even higher to avg out ED
