My friend got an email saying she wasn’t chosen as an MFOS Scholar. So apparently they send out letters if you didn’t get it. So don’t loose hope!

Hey I have a quick question say I got another scholarship worth about $6000 and i got the MFOS too will the MFOS only give me the amount of money i still need to pay for UF? since my financial aid updated with the MFOS but I have not added that I got the $6000 scholarship so will the MFOS still be the $10000 it is now or decrease to $4000 once I add the $6000 that i got is my question I guess if that makes sense.

@davidc1101 I think they will probably adjust it to $4000, because you no longer need 10,000. If that makes sense? At least that’s what I assume. The $6000 scholarship do you have to use it specifically for tuition or is it just money for you?

@liz1497 I think its just money for me but they require me to tell what school I am going to but they will send the check to me

My HS Guidance Counselor told me that outside scholarships will be deposited back to your account. Ask the UF Counselors if you should report it and if it will be deposited back to you.

I just got notified through UFL mail that I didn’t get MFOS, although my family makes around $9000 a year…

@davidc1101 I think if it’s sent directly to you, then maybe you don’t have to report it? That way you can use it for personal expenses. I think UF will tell you to report it regardless? I’m not sure. :confused: You can ask a UF financial adviser to see what he or she says.

i also got an ufl email that i didn’t get mfos. honestly i was very disappointed. but i just thought that other people are more qualified than i am. but with the money alivezarden’s parent makes a year. there is no way he should not get mfos. I just think the process if also very luck based, with whoever’s application they review first gets it. The leftovers are not lucky are will have to fight for a spot towards the end due to limited scholarships @alivezarden

@alivezarden

Not sure if anyone else got this, but I had to settle a citizenship discrepancy by showing up at UF by person. I tried my best to show up the earliest, and I still don’t get why there was a problem in the first place regarding my citizenship. I don’t know if that delayed my chances or what, but there was nothing I could do when it showed up last minute you know? @palmtree123

And honestly I don’t understand it either. I thought It was need based, but I guess that doesn’t really matter all that much? Last year I know someone whose parents bought them a luxury sports car and they got the scholarship. Lol

@alivezarden have you tried calling them? with your family income of 9k, there is no way you are less qualified than many other recipients. i mean, the scholarship committees are human too, i would suggest calling them and call out the facts. it wouldnt hurt. i am disappointed too, and I have to look for other ways to cover my COA now. what is wrong with your citizenship?

9k and they told you no? This is so weird how they seem to pick. I faxed mine in the first day and still haven’t gotten a yes nor a no yet so honestly I think the first come first serve argument is out the window too. Still waiting…

There isn’t anything wrong with my citizenship, at least I think. I have an American passport and everything, I thought maybe it was just a random selection? I figured that the decisions are final and there were probably people who have an annual income of $0? @palmtree123

@ajj116 wow I hope things turn out well for you! The wait is the worst.

I guess so, but the average income of the recipients on the website is 18k. Your case is really weird. But i guess this is life! as for the rest of your, i hope your the best of luck! @alivezarden

Does anyone know how many they give out a year?

Its 300 every year.

Hey. Has anybody not been notified yet? Coz I haven’t. The last email I received was them confirming that they received my parent’s tax forms.
