Florida State looking for national-quality president

As an alumnus of FSU I assure you we are tired of state-level politicos as university presidents. It seems the media is noticing:

FSU's trustees plan a nationwide search, but chances are it won't take long for candidates to throw their hats into the ring, and many of them will be familiar political names. Condoleezza Rice's name was even being rumored around campus by Friday...

Another serious though nonpolitical name making the rounds is Mark Wrighton, a Jacksonville native and Florida State alumnus — 1969 chemistry with honors; California Institute of Technology Ph.D., 1972 — who is the extraordinarily well-regarded chancellor of Washington University at St. Louis.

Finally! FSU is starting to look in the right places. :)

Better not be Wrighton… I haven’t had a chance to go bowling in his house yet!
