Florida state Transfer

Hi I kinda need some questions answered if yall could?
ok I had jus applied to fsu as a upper-level transfer in elementary education major spring 2011 as of rite now(because my summer grades arent out yet) I have a 3.0 and it says that i need a 2.5 to get in my major.
how does fsu conduct their admission process?
how long does it take before you hear a response?
what are my chances?
I just got my summer grades and I have a 3.13

Has your Status changed to say Application is being reviewed by Department. IF so then could be 3 to 6 weeks. Not sure about chances…

well i have to send in my transcripts in july 6 cuz thats wen i sign up for my last bit of classes

When I was at my freshman orientation recently, one of the deans at a session mentioned limited access programs like specifically elementary education that only admit around 65 students in the fall and, according to him, students with 3.5 GPAs weren’t getting in the elementary education program which kind of ticked him off. It floored me that a 3.5 GPA wouldn’t get you in the limited access elementary education program at FSU! Maybe the dean exagerrated or didn’t get his figures right, but apparently getting in some of the limited access programs is very competitive.

EE is limited access, so you are competing with current FSU students and CC and other transfers. Many majors state a minimum needed to apply, but in reality what is needed for acceptance is much higher.

There will be two issues, acceptance into FSU, and acceptance into a limited access major. Nursing, elementary ed, and others are very competitive even when you are a current FSU student. Hopefully someone in EE will come on and give you more info. Since elementary education BA is a major/degree that the state colleges (formally community colleges) are adding, it might need to be plan B.

ok because i am very worried but will the general knowledge test help me also

also i have to enter my major in the fall and I transfer in the spring what classes am I suppose to take in the spring?

You would need to apply to FSU as a different or undecided major to get in for spring, then take classes that you need for any gen ed requirements or other electives while you applied for the limited access to the EE major for fall. If you don’t get in, you would need to pick a different major or be applying to other schools for EE so you have a back up. It might be wise to stay put, continue classes to raise your GPA, and then apply to both FSU and to the major together for fall of 2011.

like thats a good idea but the thing is my time is up in december cuz ill have my 60 credits but if I have to go with another major then thats fine 2

ok i sent my transcripts off to the schools yesterday can anybody tell me how long it take s before you hear a reply

does anybody know how long it is b4 i hear a decision

i applied in late december/early january- they got back to me in early february (rejected because economics is a limited access major & i didnt meet the pre-reqs).

o ok im sry to hear that

haha its nbd- my gpa was a 3.46 when i applied (i needed to finish my gen ed classes) im applying again next fall as a junior. my gpa is about a 3.5 (with the class i just retook).
