International Transfer Student

hey guys i'm currently an international student attending a Florida cc. I'm interested in Florida State for its management program (limited access). I'm pursuing my AA right now which would be finished in may to apply for fall 2013 to FSU. I currently have a 3.65 gpa and made the president's list this semester. What do you think of my chances of getting in? I haven't applied yet.
thanks for your help

You’ll definitely be accepted into FSU, as far as getting into the program, you have a competitive chance.

thank you for your input MastuhDang, I applied and long story short they told me, that I need to finish my last math class before they can make any decision, so i have to wait for my final transcripts in May. I’ve been doing rather well this last semester and I think i can bump up my gpa to at least 3.7. My question now is: does being an International Student or an OOS really makes admission that much harder? I always thought since I would pay more it shouldn’t really mather right? what so you guys think??
thanks again

I think it’s harder if you are applying as a freshman. I suspect that AA transfers go into a different “bucket” than freshman applicants, so I don’t think being international matters in this case. That’s just a guess.

Yeah, if you are applying as a lower-division transfer (under 60 credit hours completed), it is more difficult to transfer to FSU than if you had your AA (or at least had 60 credit hours). It’s likely that the reason FSU told you that was that your math class might fulfill the AA requirements, and FSU is only considering upper-division or AA transfers at this point?

The number of transfer applicants that FSU accepts is somewhat small, which is why AA recipients are given priority consideration.

I wouldn’t worry too much though. The odds are very high that you would be accepted.
