Flunked my first semester of college

^^^^^^ Stay positive College!- Now is not the time to let anyone deter you from your goals by infusing any doubts. You are a semester older and wiser. With a new game plan, you can succeed. We are all cheering for you!

college-not-flunkie, we are pulling for you!!!

Hello everyone,
I just wanted to let anyone know who was looking out for any update on if I succeed my second semester or not. I did a great job my second semester. I was put on academic probation and I received all A’s and only one AB. The following semester I was still on academic probation because my GPA was just barely below a 2.5, so my 4th semester is when I finally got out of my mess from first semester. Pulling strong with currently a 2.77 GPA which is a big difference from my 1.1 GPA my first semester. I hope anyone that ends up falling into the same situation I did realizes that they still have a chance like I did. Good luck everyone

That’s a great come back. You should be very proud.

WOW! That is such a testament to your character and determination – you be proud of yourself! that’s a tremendous accomplishment! It takes real effort to overcome the odds. Best of luck in your next semester, too. Keep up the good work!

Congratulations, collegeflunkienomore ;)

You should be proud. It looks like you have the kind of persistence required to be successful in life. Good luck!

You can’t even imagine how many of us out here are so proud of you. Your story was not a unique one-many crash in their first semester of college. But how you come away from it is the make or break story. You made it, and by sharing your story, others can know they are not alone and it is possible to rise and SHINE! Nice work. Keep it up!

Congrats – what a testament to your perseverance and indomitable spirit! Good for you! I am known to remind my kids, its not how many times you fall down, its how many times you get back up. Great work!

Congratulations to you! (Also just think, now when you go to a job interview and they say “tell me about a time when you experienced failure” you have a great story that shows how you picked yourself up and did great afterwards!)

You really should feel extra proud, and I hope your parents are giving you all the praise and credit you deserve.

Just adding my congrats to you. I’m sure you have gained a tremendous amount of pride in yourself, and the college and your family are all delighted.

Good for you, CF. Thanks for updating us. :)

so encouraging. thank you for the update.

Just in case anyone still keeps up with my updates. I wanted to let everyone know, I reached above a 3.0 gpa! I brought myself up from the 1.1, and I couldn’t be happier about this. I cannot thank the people in this forum enough for helping me during that really dark time. I’m currently at a 3.1, and it’s truly amazing that I was able to pull this off. I will be graduating next semester and I could not be more impressed with the progress I have made throughout these years. Every year I come back to this post, and I truly cannot believe that I made it this far.

That is awesome! Congratulations to you!

I am so proud of you! And your story is a great one to share here at CC.

Collegeflunkie, I have goosebumps. What life lessons you have gained and applied to achieve your success. Many, many congrats.

By the way, I believe the CC admin may be able to help you change your username. You certainly have earned the right. You are an inspiration.

Good for you, @collegeflunkie. I hope you’re very proud of yourself for not giving up. Great job!

Excellent story and outcome! This thread should be put in the College Life section too–there are certainly other kids going through the very same experience as I write this. This story might inspire them.

@MaineLonghorn Thought this could be a story to highlight. fwiw
