Competition can be really good for the consumer. Not to be outdone by Google, Microsoft has sunk a boatload of money into acquiring super high-res imagery of many areas in the U.S., with more on the way.

The interface still leaves a bit to be desired. Panning is done via thumbnails on the left. Use the compass to look from a different direction. Use the "big buildings"/"little buildings" to zoom out and in.

If you want to fly down memorial drive, note the people on the fields.

This is still a pretty incredible product. If you live in a fairly densely settled area, you can probably find your house.

Wow, that's amazing. Microsoft>Google? Google>Microsoft? I dunno, but they both hire a lot of MIT grads. Whoever pays more money. Hehehe. And I swear we're the only two people who browse these forums @ 12 AM PST.

I do like Google, but I have to say, Windows Live is very well done. A lot of new things at Microsoft come out looking very sharp.

This is precisely the problem, though. This is a neat product (it looks nifty), but if you think about it, neither Google's nor Microsoft's technology is anything knew: it is just an old idea rehashed. Nothing innovative has come out of either company for years.

yeah, edy_42. Just because the stock-prices have been declining lately for your multi-million dollar internet and computer software startup company that is directly in competition with Google and Microsoft, doesn't mean you all of a sudden have free reign to be some jealous nay-sayer.

don't mock him pebbles.
just because his multi-million dollar company can't compete with billion dollar companies like Google and Microsoft doesn't mean he isn't just as successful

Yeah but he could have the common decency not to DERIDE other companies out of envy. I mean... corporate giants have feelings, too.

You guys are hilarious. You do have a point, though, perhaps I shouldn't say anything. I was merely saying that rather than being impressed with simple technology demonstrations, we should think about some of the real technology that is coming out of the major software giants.
