the white house is blurred out on that if I remember correctly :)

Neat-o! ;) Thanks for the link

The White House isn't blurred out or anything on Google Earth. The only places blurred out that I've been able to tell so far are extremely rural areas.

The resolution quality of the San Francisco/Bay Area is MUCH better using the newly debuted MSN Virtual Earth:

http://virtualearth.msn.com/

Here's an example, Google Earth on top and MSN on bottom (The photo is of Lakeshore Elementary School in San Francisco)

The White House isn't blurred out or anything on Google Earth.

The roof is shaded one color, presumably so people do not know where the anti-aircraft or any other defense systems are mounted.

Which program is better overall, MSN Virtual Earth or Google Earth? Also, which one came out first?

There a little different. I have to explain 3 programs:

First, Google Maps came out. It's a web-based program for maps and satellite imaging. Then, Google Earth came out, which is a standalone application where you have a 3D World that you can scroll through, and you could also zoom in farther than you could with Google Maps.

Now recently, MSN's Virtual Earth came out. It's a web based app like Google Maps, but allows you to zoom in at the Google Earth levels (if that makes sense :p)

In terms of resolution, it depends on the area. VirtualEarth in general is worse, many areas are in black and white, and are lower resolution than Google Maps/Earth. However, the San Francisco Bay Area is in absolutely stunning quality on VirtualEarth.

In terms of what came out first, Google did in this recent wave, but MSN had Terraserver for many years now, which was web based but pretty clunky to use.

I used it about a month ago. It's so cool. I zoomed all the way from earth to my house. The only criticism I have is that one can't really see that much outside of America and the world's mega-cities.

I don't know about the Bay area but Google Earth is so much easier to use than the Microsoft stuff. I tried typing in the name of a prominent college located in a city and Microsoft sent me to two wrong places. Google got me there immediately, plus the picture does not keep breaking up as you zoom as the Microsoft software does.

Google is such an amazingly creepy organization. Whenever I see something like that I keep thinking back to the "Google-Zon" movie that was posted a while back...

It seems like Google is slowly taking over... watch out Microsoft.

cool. Google is starting to have more funky stuff. =]

You obviously don't know squat about Google.

I love Google. I was doing chem homework with my friend. We didn't know what one of the terms meant, and I told my friend that we should Google it. She was like "um... ***?" Hahah that was fun.

If you look up the Microsoft headquarters on MSN it shows a completely empty field, but if you look it up on Google, you see the actual buildings, etc.

Coincidence???
I think not

Can you see the Groom Lake facility? I tried zooming in on the Nevada desert, but cannot find it.

lol I just watched that google-zon movie (I had to google it to find it, hehe) and yeah, that is sorta creepy. If someone has to take over the world though, I think google would do the best job.

I think google knows too much about us...

The movie Antitrust was supposedly about Microsoft...
I would much rather Google take over :)

Google is awesome. Does anyone know when the library is coming out?
