okay so I took the ACT in febuary and then in april (the 22nd one) and my composite only went up by one point -___-
but i was very discouraged after the math section because i was so unfocused
and kind of gave up
although my english score did go up from a 25 to a 34
do you think the best way to practice focusing is taking practice exams for the full 4 hours? any other tips?

wow,25 to 34 in a few months? nice! Teach me your tricks for english, lol.

I would just take practice tests but break it down further. Like do 1 english test and math one day, then the other 2 the next.

try ritalin?

but seriously, i find the ACT to be pretty intense and focus is not usually an issue for me. however, i think practicing the full exam without stopping would be valuable, if not for focusing then for building mental stamina. i used to be totally fried by the time i got to science, but eventually it becomes habit and you’re fine.

do you find yourself losing focus just at random moments or when you get to a question you can’t answer right away? if the latter, practice will definitely help you be able to get more questions right and avoid this. if the former, there might be bigger issues at hand here.

edit: when taking it in full length, you can take breaks after math and after science. no need to shove through every section. if you finish something early, utilize that time to relax.
