Certain illegal items are illegal because they’re a safety hazard in a dorm. For me though, in my apartment we have a common living room, 2 bathrooms, and 3 bedrooms (normally 4 bedrooms, but one of my roommates needs a handicap accessable room/bathroom, which takes up more space), and they changed the rules that technically my other roommate who is 21 and I can’t consume alcohol in our living room nor can we have it even in our own private rooms; which I think is bogus cause it’s not like we’re planning on having wild parties or anything.

It’s only cause they ran out of space for sophomores in the dorms and had to place them in the apartments…stupid idiots who designed the construction plans without timing and class size in mind…

Here are a couple microwave cookbooks I found on Amazon:

I am aware that certain illegal items are illegal because they’re a safety hazard, but that doesn’t mean that’s what they’re looking for. Since they can’t go through drawers and such it’d be a pretty colossal waste of money and time to send people searching through thousands of dorms twice a year JUST in case someone was dumb enough to leave their toaster sitting in plain sight.

You’d be surprised lol. People leave candles and toasters and hotplates and all kinds of things out at Xavier…even with a one week warning about inspections. Oh, and they look for shotglasses with residue, if people are stupid enough to leave those out, too.

MOSTLY it’s about plugs and outlet usage though.

For my toaster oven, if I bring it, I am going to wrap the box in that brown package paper. That way the box doesn’t necessarily have to be hidden and I can just put the toaster oven in it and close it up. But I am still not sure if I am going to bring it.

The dining halls have styrofoam cups and plastic lids so students can take coffee on the way out.

The libraries also have random carts of self-serve coffee during the afternoon and evening.

^jealousss

I might have had that in the caf in my dorm last year, but the cafeteria closed at 8, which was not exactly when I needed coffee most. lol.

They installed a latte machine in our caf, AFTER I started living in the apartments and no longer had a meal plan. =( I usually spend way too much at our little coffee shop called Coffee Emporium, though most of the time it’s not even for coffee, it’s for steamers…but I’m making coffee in my apartment this year.
