…Our tour guide at Amherst did not take us into the cafeteria so we didn’t eat any food. Just curious…how is the food at Amherst?

Errr...it's not bad food and it's actually been getting better with more variety.
It repeats every couple weeks or so, so it gets a little repetitive sometimes, but it isn't bad food. And there's always stir fry and panini maker.

And also the waffle-makers are available for every meal. You pretty much always have some good options to make something tasty yourself if you don't like anything on the menu that day.

If you're worried about food variety (anywhere), try reading a book called "Tray Gourmet." Written by some Yalies a few years ago, it describes how you go down a cafeteria line, grab things like a cold apple, cheddar cheese cubes, and some raisins, take them to a microwave and turn into a yummy baked apple. The book's simple recipes offer new ways to handle and rearrange the same-o cold ingredients. The measurements are funny, too, such as : half a handful of raisins; a pocketful of half-and-half cups, etc.

Thanks catfish and andyman for the update on Amherst food. As mentioned, our tour guide did not take us to the cafeteria, but she did mention that students were working with administration to improve food variety and quality.
