Food at Penn

I was wondering if a current Penn student could give me their perspective on how the food is at Penn. Are some dining halls better than others? What type of food is served at these dining halls? Is there a variety of food available on campus? Thanks.

^First of all that video only asked one person, and looking at some of the others it looks like that carried over to the ratings too. Second I think it’s worth noting that Penn changed providers in between the time that video was posted and now. A few upperclassmen who don’t eat at the dining halls that often have still told me that they noticed a difference for the better. There was also an article that came to my house in the Daily Pennsylvanian today about how the Quad is getting more food options next year and that Commons (a major dining hall) is going to be improved soon as well.

Edit: Found the article I mentioned here: http://www.dailypennsylvanian.com/article/penn-expand-dining-quad-commons

Dining improved overall when Bon Appetit took over, but Houston Market took a turn for the worse (I just find it appalling that a place will sell a cheesesteak in Philadelphia without offering cheese wiz. It should be against the law!).

If anyone says that one dining hall is better than another, it is because of factors such as familiarity, look, smell and friendliness of staff…the food itself tastes exactly the same since it is cooked using the same ingredients in the same proportions.

Kings Court definitely has different pizza sauce. And interesting pizza options. And adorable children running around aimlessly.

It’s decent. At first, the food is alright but after months of eating it, day after day, it’s only normal to be bored and tired of it.

Personally, I think Hill and King’s Court > Commons. Hill and King’s Court mix it up more often in terms of food. However, Commons has come a long way haha they’re making strides.
